RMweb Premium rprodgers Posted May 10, 2016 RMweb Premium Share Posted May 10, 2016 In the absence of a Bulleid brake composite I purchased a Mk1 in BR (SR) green. A quick question was the circular BR "crest" on these coaches when they were first painted green? If not can the "crest" be gently removed with some Brasso or similar? Chris Higgs
In the absence of a Bulleid brake composite I purchased a Mk1 in BR (SR) green. A quick question was the circular BR "crest" on these coaches when they were first painted green? If not can the "crest" be gently removed with some Brasso or similar? R As I recall it was applied to some stock, to be allocated to the named trains such as The Royal Wessex. In the end, it was pretty random as to whether a coach had a crest or not. The Parkin book implies that the crest introduction coincided with the new Maroon, Green and Chocolate/Cream liveries.
RMweb Premium John M Upton Posted May 10, 2016 RMweb Premium Share Posted May 10, 2016 Most Southern Region Mk1's in green that I have seen in pictures have generally tended to be without the crest. If the tampo printing on those is the same as my blue/grey ones then a gently applied sharp cocktail stick will remove the printed on detail easily leaving little if any trace.
