West Australian Govt Railways L Class by Haskell

Recommended Posts

Probably 30 years ago I took this photo of a WAGR L class L268 painted in an experimental blue livery at the Midland Railway workshops in WA. This was the first day it was first shown in the new livery. Unfortunately the blue never really took off and Westrail stuck with the usual Orange with some trials later on in Yellow.

The weekend just gone I attended the Perth Model Rail expo in Claremont and found this, the new HO model by Haskell. (The thing is I model Eastern in OO.) Well nostalgia is a powerful thing so for $268 it came home with me :) .

Haskell are also doing these Standard Gauge grain wagons in 5 different running numbers for $30 each. So I ended up with a rake of those too.  Kieran Haskell is the first to admit that they aren't perfect and a re livery of an existing Frateschi Grain wagon but they look close enough to me.

Edit to point out there are a variety of detail pieces in with the wagon that I had not fitted when the picture was taken.

Reports on how it runs to follow at a later time.

All the Best
