bertiedog
A find in the model storage clear out, an old Fleischmann 060 chassis, I think once a 260 tank loco, saved as it has decent, if large flanged, spoked wheels. No motor but at least two types of motor fit the cradle area. but would need a new worm supported by a layshaft, with the drive via a joint. Wheels scale out at about 3 foot diameter, so it would have to be an industrial or shunting locomotive. The wheels are gear coupled together, the gears could be hidden with ca cover plate. The axles could be replaced with longer ones to suit 2mm fine scale track, and the flanges reduced in size. The smaller 12 volt coreless motor fits well, the bigger 3 pole motor would need the rear bracket removed and moved back a bit to support the rear. Obviously the chassis can be shortened etc to fit a new outline, but which British loco would suit it the best? The wheelbase is approx 12 foot in 2mm scale. It might be possible to add an extra gear stage to increase the gear ratio, which is far too low at the moment, at about 16:1, doubling would help a lot. The other use might be a 062 Narrow Gauge 009 loco, with the motor the other way round..........it could then have outside cylinders etc added, and a bit more space for increasing the gear ratio.
