Quick update from me today. Not much modeling done so far today as SWMBO had me look at our wood stove. To cut a long story short we have been looking at getting a new one which due to regulations meant building a whole new fire place and hearth because nothing on the market works with the dimensions we have and a replacement stove is obsolete.

So after spending the whole day so far on the internet and phone I have secured all the replacement parts to rebuild the old one. Lets just hope we don't have a power cut before the new parts arrive.

Funny that I was expecting to make some more in 1/76 scale and ended up working on our 1/1 scale nightmare!

Back on topic then I have had better success with the ballast magic. The Bradford station approach stuck first time and very neat it is too. This was M&R ballast which I suspect was clean! the woodland scenics stuff is not, in that I mean there is quite a large amount of granite dust.

Yesterday things sped along nicely on the platform structures.

I made and painted all these parts...

...and managed to complete another interior.

Today's train is a mixed freight. Sorry I didn't catch the J39 at the head.

Friday I was up before 5am and needless to say lots got done! Yesterday I had trouble with a waning mojo due to not feeling too good (I have a cough:notme: I pretty sure it's not the dreaded 'VID but that's what we all say right

Anyway I'm feeling better today and should be able to finish the last 5 fire places and finish painting the last 5 waiting rooms.

Seating, tables, chimneys rooves and outside detailing still need modeling.

Some of you might like to see the work bench instead of more pictures of the same old stuff.

Comments on the state of our dining table are welcome!!!

Shaun,

Just brilliant!  I assume when you want to eat you sit with it on a mat your laps in front of the tele?  Two pairs of glasses.  Is that so that if you cannot find one you find the other?

Now that it has turned cold we have indeed retreated to the living room! I do need to get this project finished before thanks giving on Thursday, not that we can have anybody over.

In fact I have seven pairs. The prescription ones (mostly for night driving) and the rest come from the Dollar Store. +1s (3pair) +2s +2.5 and for the really tiny close work +2.75s. I'm surprised you didn't notice the six knives!

A tidy workbench is evidence of a sick mind...

:D

Still looks good compared to my cellar though.

Al.

Mrs. S. heard me say.

"Talking to yourself is the first sign of madness".

"Don't be silly" She reassured me, to which I replied

"I wasn't talking to you".

Must be careful not to push my luck or else I might get banished to somewhere a bit too far from the fridge!

Mrs. S. is considerably more accommodating than most I think.

I am usually allowed to have stuff out, even on the dining table as there is only the two of us.  It has to go away when we have people round.  Apart from the grandchildren we have had no one round inside for about nine months so I have stuff all over the place.  Christmas, (if it happens) = tidying up time.

Sometimes I clear it all away when the old mojo takes flight...

...that way I feel the need to get it all back out and do some modeling!

Wanna see some real madness?

I've been applying my furniture production skills in 4mm scale this evening. No overtime either, I'm done early enough to join Mrs. S. in bed for a nice movie (and you all thought we ate in front of the tele).

No waffle either I'm afraid but the pictures should explain themselves

Hi Shaun, what a cracking job on the benches, a small item but one that looks very good and a well thought out project. All the best and dont get crumbs in the bed. Adrian.

Hi Adrian, Thank you! I've plenty of experience at doing the real thing. During overtime (which amounted to 100 minutes work) my deaf mate Terry and I could knock up 100 oak dining chairs. There would be chairs everywhere the following morning and everyone would have to prepare at least 4 for the polishing shop before production on everything else would commence.

If there's one thing Mrs.S. draws the line at it's eating in bed. Don't know why. (TMI again)

Yes even more so when you consider they're for the interiors!!:taunt:

Al's mower is in a class all of it's own mate, how could anyone forget that.

Thanks for the mention chaps, but those benches are a work of art.

But, like the mower, if you work on something in 1:1 scale, then you know how it all goes together, and what it should look like,  then modelling it in 4mm is a lot easier.

More madness today, they'll be carting me off in a straight jacket before I know it!

Had to set up my pillar drill to make the jig which is simply six 2.4mm dia. holes 10mm deep, but it is accurate.

Incidentally  I cut the mortises for the work bench dining table on the same drill 12 years ago so I know that the models are true to prototype. Don't believe for one minute that I went to the trouble of cutting 12 mortise and tenon joints in 4mm scale.

Again the pictures are hopefully self explanatory...

Told you this might border on the insane.

I didn't need to procrastinate over the finish too long.
