Class 318 is cosmetically done. Just running in and dcc chip programming to do, they will have to wait until i get it on the layout.

Class 380 sprayed with gloss varnish and first transfers applied. Looks good so far, 7 more sides to do! Still pondering the window problem....

Coming along well, still working on my 318, repainted it several times into SPT but somethings not working right. Practice makes perfect though.

318 on the layout, DCC chips sorted but needs ballast adding/couplings modifying as the coach being pushed has a strong tendency to jump of the track......

Class 380 is progressing well. Windows painstakingly cut from clear plasticard. Transfers done. Pantograph installed. Couplings added. Underframe added.

Jobs still to do - interior, a bit of weight needs to be added but i wont do that until it has been on the layout. Provision for lighting is there (bogies all have pickups) but i will hold off until/if i sort the interior to a satisfactory level. Chassis needs a dcc chip hardwiring in. A bit of detail painting/weathering on the roof. Some electrical gubbins around the pantograph well.

All being said i am pleased with how its come out - it looks like a 380! Lots of learning as always, and lots of new techniques for the next build. I shall share some photos when i get it on a layout.

Class 380 done for now. At some point it will probably gain lighting - the provision is there as all the bogies have pickups, thats a future project though. I think it looks respectable against my other Spotrail multiple units, certainly on par with the 318.

The 380 and 318 are stunning!

Always been surprised the 31* and 32*  classes have never been picked up by a RTR company

you'd think they'd have much more sales potential than 2 manufacturers squabbling over something like Class 71s or most of the prototypes or one-offs

Just read through this thread after discovering it for the first time. Wow, simply wow.

The determination and dedication shows, and the final models you've made look stunning! Never come across (or at least, knowingly!) the Replica chassis. I've got a 175 (CMAC print) and 323 to build, so I think it's time to get the projects under way...

Following with great interest.

Its been a wee while. Work has rather got in the way over the last chunk, hopefully back on a more even footing.

Ive have working on the first of two of CMACs Class 334 prints. The first unit is 95% done (which may actually mean finished, we shall see). The second one is mid way through painting. I shall have a rummage and see if i can restore some of my previous photos on this page, ive got some of them somewhere i think!

I think i have cracked getting the unit to be a good runner. I dont have the skill set or patience to do bogies myself, so buying off the shelf bogies has done my units the world of good in running quality. (in this case Hornby 395 bogies, which are a close enough match for me).

334005 has a replica railways drive unit under the centre carriage, for the second unit i am having a go with a Hornby pendolino motor unit (as he replica units are unobtainable at this time).
