Popular Post SWT442
Every year, a trip to the DEMU show normally winds up with a few days away preceeding the show spent lineside at a few locations. This year a trip into Anglia was done to catch the Class 90's and MK3 stock before they're ousted by EMU's. Below is a selection of pictures from the trip, along with a couple of other electrics caught during the trip. The 90's and stock certainly look very smart in the White and Dark Grey colour scheme, but it must be a nightmare to keep clean! Clattering over the River Stour at Cattawade, 90004 "City of Chelmsford" is seen working 1P35 Norwich to London Liverpool Street. 31.05.17 Slowing for the stop at Mannigtree, 90003 heads over Cattawade Bridge with 1P39 Norwich to London Liverpool Street. 31.05.17 Thundering over the river bridge at Cattawade, 86637 & 86622 work 4M87 Felixstowe to Trafford Park. 31.05.17 Seen from the hill at Brantham, 90003 races by with 1P57 Norwich to London Liverpool Street. 31.05.17 Heading away is 90005 "Vice Admiral Lord Nelson" with 1P50 London Liverpool Street to Norwich, while howling the other way is 70019 with 4S88 Felixstowe to Coatbridge. 31.05.17 Accelerating away from Ipswich is 90013 at Belstead with 1P63 Norwich to London Liverpool Street. 31.05.17 Seen on the bank at Belstead, 90012 "Royal Anglian Regiment" propels 1P18 London Liverpool Street to Norwich towards Ipswich. 01.02.17 Working hard, 90004 "City of Chelmsford" hauls 1P35 Norwich to London Liverpool Street past the camera at Belstead. 01.06.17 Still flying the flag for Railfreight Grey, albeit with Freightliner brandings, 90047 leads 90043 through Tamworth with 4S44 Daventry ILFRT to Coatbridge FLT. 02.06.17 Still in EWS colours, 90037 "Spirit of Dagenham" and 90028 hum through Tamworth working 4M25 Mossend Euroterminal to Daventry ILRFT. 02.06.17 Andy. 21

Steadfast
Cracking set of pics Andy, the one for me though is the 70 and 90 passing on the GEML. Works really well Jo
SWT442
Cheers guys! Was really pleased with how they all came out considering I'd never been to any of the locations before! The 70 and 90 passing was pure luck, and that shot was the only decent one! All the others had the masts on the cab fronts! May look to take another trip that way in early September and try a few more spots out before they all disapear. Wouldn't mind having a run behind them and do the full route. Andy. RMweb Gold 96701 Posted June 21, 2017 RMweb Gold Share Posted June 21, 2017 Seeing the photos from the cab by Vitalspark reminded me how lucky I was in the seventies to often be left on the footplate at Carlisle station to be taken to Preston. I did occasionally have a camera with me. I have a few like this if anybody wants to see any more.

RMweb Gold Popular Post 96701 Posted June 22, 2017 RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted June 22, 2017 Okay, so it all started when I was a trainee technician at Kingmoor and lived in Nelson. I was allowed to leave Kingmoor about lunchtime on Friday to travel home, so off I went down the road to catch the bus into town, suitcase in hand. Made it to the station in me to see my train come in. It was then that I realised that it was the very train that was stabled next to the depot! The next Friday, I went to the train, suitcase in hand and asked the crew if I could get on the train. Yes, get in here was the response. I couldn't believe my luck, a footplate trip to the station. I got off the loco and went to sit in the train. The next Friday, the crew asked me to stay on the loco until the driver arrived. They departed and left me in charge. The driver turned up on his own, I got up to go, and he told me to stay put. The next week I took my camera. Here are the guys who started it all. Sitting around at Kingmoor waiting for the off. I have can't remember how we got out from behind the breakdown train. On our way to Carlisle station. I don't know whether or not this sort of thing is still allowed. A Peak departing northbound as we come in. More to follow......

RMweb Gold Popular Post 96701 Posted June 22, 2017 RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted June 22, 2017 (edited) Just about arrived at Carlisle and getting ready to leave me in charge of the loco as another northbound train comes in. Penrith. Going up Shap. The first time I was on the footplate here, the loco lurched so violently on those facing points at 85mph, I thought we were going in the sidings. A Vulcan nipped across in front of us on the way down Shap, I thought I did rather well to get it. Hacking through Tebay. More to follow...... vitalspark
Absolutely brilliant and atmospheric cab shots so keep them coming even if they are on the newly electrified KWVR It has been many years since I last rode in the cab of the ACs and even had the controls on occasions but these wonderful images bring it all back. Most memorable for me was a winters night snowing steadily and 86029 on an express passenger Carlisle to Glasgow at 100mph and over and riding on original bogies. No wonder they modified the originals..the ride had to be experienced to be believed. What I would pay to repeat that experience though. Dave. Coach bogie
This one is also in the class 60 thread, but may be of interest to other AC guys like me. I am never sure why they send this via Teesside where there are no wires but here you go. 60091 and 90036 at Rounton Gates (Between Middlesbrough and Northallerton), yesterday running two hours late, on the Doncaster - Tyne Yard PW - the only reason I was able to photograph it on my way home from work. wn 1A
Good morning, There are lots of brilliant "photos of..." threads on here so thought I would start one on AC electrics which hasn't been covered yet...I think! Feel free to add photos from the electric blue days to today. Here is a couple from my collection to kick things off. Both taken in the late 80's near Kenton, first up, 87010 "King Arthur" in Intercity livery on a sleeper, possibly ECS working. 27 - 87010-1 - Copy (1280x851).jpg Intercity liveried 86245 "Dudley Castle" on an up TPO/parcels. 46 - 86245-1 - Copy (1280x865).jpg Best regards, Jeremy Jeremy , although you do not say the year. I would say this is the Lancaster Pulman which conveyed empty sleepers. alan
