jonny777
What no more photos of Electric Blue AL1-6s?, My days are going to be a lot darker now Bob C Hopefully this will help, although it is not good quality as it was taken from a train travelling in the opposite direction. One seems to be heading a Pullman train...... E3135_Crewe_180971_Post.jpg E3135 at Crewe 18/09/1971 The 86s at Euston do not have to be at an angle. All you need is a image manipulation program and some patient trial and error. Sadly, I could not work on the full size image as the software would not let me save it to my desktop, but I have fiddled with the much smaller thumbnail (hence the saw-tooth edges) to show what could be possible.
eastwestdivide
About time for some Great Eastern shots to balance all those WCML ones. Two with cross-arm pantographs, as previously posted in another thread. Stratford, 1984, training/test runs with 86030 on a very wet day: Stratford again, 1985: Ipswich in 1985, when it was the limit of electric loco working, and 86/47 loco swaps were taking place: And two from Colchester, 1986. Is it my failing eyesight, or does the Derby twin unit that arrives at 4:37 not have its gangway connections joined up between cars?
andania 213
A point of info re the 86's in 'Electric Blue', As built, they were actually all in the then new Standard BR blue ( monastral blue as it was oft called back then). The few that came out the workshops sans their half yellow ends were the only BR Locos in BR Blue to run like that. Take a look at some colour shots where classes Al1-5 are stood next to a brand new AL6, there's quite a bit of difference of shade! K
