Thanks for the quick reply Gilbert.

A couple more things if I may. Did you use the resin handrail knobs? I had wondered if they were too fragile. Ditto the resin trucks, I wondered if they too were strong enough. Presumably they are?

Thanks

steve

Trucks were fine but other options are available - I've subsituted old Roundhouse and newer Walthers  trucks on some other milk cars - nobody has picked me up on any inaccuracies so far!

I'll have a look at the cars in the next day or so but I think  I used 4mm loco handrail knobs inserted in drilled holes in the resin body (although I may have also used HO lifting eyes - I will check - anyway I substituted metal parts.

FWIW milk cars are a fascinating subset of freightcar modelling - I have numerous conversions and one 50' scratch built version of a B&M car - which is otherwise only available in brass - if you can find one...if we get them out at Thornbury I'll do a few photos..

Twigg Street will be at the Thornbury Show at the Chantry - BS35 1HB - on 18 and 19 November.

We'll be mainly using 1950/60s Boston & Maine stock but there will be a bit of modellers' licence in play...

Cracking few days at Thornbury - layout behaved itself and we met a few other rwebbers. We were well looked after and there were some very nice layouts on show.

How a German DCC snow blower appeared in the last hour today I'm not entirely certain...

Thanks

I'm yet to get a copy but I got a very quick look at a friends subscription copy on Sunday.

A phrase containing "Silk Purse" and "Sow's Ear" springs to mind...

Twigg Street is featured in Continental Modeller in June - due out on Thursday.

Chris,

Great article and photos - Twigg Street looks fantastic. Well done, Sir!

Hope to see it at a show soon.

Best regards,

Mark

Twigg Street is now surplus to requirements, has no bookings and will get broken up into components unless I can pass it on to a good home (albeit without a couple of buildings which I will keep)

If there is any interest in a very cheap sale - particularly in the Bristol/ Bath/Cheltenham area do get in touch
