APT POP TRAIN Kit (under design & construction)

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

Nem pockets came today along with graham farish couplings.

First the good news,  nem pocket with new e1 frame works great and allows tight corners......

Bad news,   they do not flex enough through the buffer beam and go out of line.

Need a think on this one, but making progress.

Regards

Paul

I think I might try design my own pocket which will allow more pivot for the coupling.

Got an idea..............test time.

Will add a post with the base pop1 n gauge running.

Hi all,

I've cracked it.  Had to cheat a bit, please comment what you think of the solution.

NEM pocket is part of the bogie.

Video clip of it running in a while.

Stay safe everyone.

Regards

Paul

Hi All,

A very quick video of the latest prototype undergoing its very first powered running tests.

www.apt-e.org/leadleykits/N Gauge/pop1/Test1.wmv

Corrected the url, sorry.

I am pleased to say,  if the buffer beam work-around is ok with you good people, I can crack on getting the framework completed and get the model up for order......

Hope this video is a bit of Christmas cheer.  GOD WE NEED SOME.

Regards

Paul

Hi Paul,

You may struggle with this, and I apologise should you do so, but here it is:

Free your mind (crown chakra/corona) and the rest will follow !!!

The side frame as one unit will help certainly in the build . The N coupling is where 1:1 meets 1:148 and will always be a best fit solution - albeit an evolving one the NEM pocket as an adaptor allows from the ELSIE type head here through Dapol/ minitrains to the new magnet on the block!

I look forward to progress and in time having one to trundle on the layout.

thanks for all work and brain power done to date - also wishing you a better 2021.

Thanks very much Robert.  I always think about what I would like in a model.

The nem pocket was really the only way to go, so hopefully everyone will be happy.

The base on this version is prototype 23 lol.

Everyone stay safe and I will post more updates when I can.

Let's hope for a better 2021.

Regards

Paul.

A bit more work today.

Window frames done and another coat of paint for Pc4 and the construction of Pc3 underway.

I've got to finish the roof panels but that shouldn't be a problem.  Lol, fingers crossed.

With a bit of luck, nearly done..........

Regards

Paul.
