Good evening everyone

A few bits of information for you all. Firstly my usual postal run on Friday will be delayed, until either Saturday or Sunday, due to the fact I've got to take a member of my family to hospital, which will leave me little time to get things prepared.

Also next week, we shall only be having one trip to the post office, this will be Wednesday, this is due to attending the WSR diesel gala on Friday & Saturday (21st/22nd). We will have a stand at Minehead station, if you want to come and purchase anything. I will have to load the van on Thursday before I leave in the early hours of  Friday morning, giving me the only option of Wednesday.

This loco might take your fancy https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/153518097052?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1555.l2649 32-775SD ( 37032) £138.45 plus £4.50 P&P

I hope to see some of you next week in Somerset.

Cheers

Philip

Good evening everyone

A couple of quick things. Firstly it has been advertised in some places that we would be attending the ELR gala on Saturday. Unfortunately due to a poor sales positioned pitch offer, we have had to decline, as it would not be worth our time or effort.

We shall be at the the DRS open day on the 20th if you are attending. I shall have three class 90's and three decoders for sale ( all three have been fully tested)  one 32-610 (9005)  and two 32-611's ( 90037). If you wish to reserve one please PM me.

Also one class 37 has been reduced today

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/163724347831?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1555.l2649  32-775SDDS (37032)  £210.45 plus £4.50 P&P

Sorry I forgot to mention a couple of things.

Firstly after unloading the van on Sunday, I found that I had a few more MK2F's than I thought. They can be found here at £41 for non DCC and £62.50. I do have a couple of 39-701DC that are not listed if you fancy them

https://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/c37lg/m.html

Also and more importantly , our server is still down, and is really looking like we might struggle to get it fixed. If you have any sales issues please contact me on colewallace5@sky.com.

As you will no doubt be aware, the previous couple of months have been rather challenging for us as a group. The discovery of cracks within the main crank of the engine cast a rather large shadow over Project 3-60 and the future of D6703; indeed, for those on the committee it was incredibly disheartening and it has been an anxious period for all as we have awaited news that we can pass on to those of you who have continually followed and supported us.

Well, we are happy to reveal that we are now finally able to do so.

The committee was recently made aware of a 1967 build EE 12SV Mk2 power unit that had become available for spares. This was one of four power units being cleared out from an industrial site that was soon to be redeveloped, with the power units originally at risk of going for scrap. Under normal circumstances this would be a wasted opportunity but, in this instance, it seemed frankly criminal as the power unit we were investigating had done a grand total of 215 hours work since installation! This meant we were looking at a replacement crank that was 52 years old and yet could be considered as almost new, given how little work it had done.

Having spent many weeks making enquiries and ensuring that the crank from this particular unit was compatible with ours, we came to a deal on not only the crank, but the block within which it is housed too, and all for a very reasonable price!

We would therefore like to announce that on 13th July we confirmed our intention to purchase the block and crank from this power unit, for fitting in D6703, in replacement of the block/crank currently in situ. The rest of the loco’s current power unit (heads/turbos etc) can then be built up around the new block.

It cannot be stressed enough how fortunate we are to be in this position. The timing of this find has undoubtedly secured the future of D6703. The committee would like to express its sincere thanks to those members of the railway preservation scene who were vital in making this happen.

This of course means that work can now commence on making D6703 a working loco once more and it is thought that once things start progressing with the power unit, the whole project should pick up pace. It is perhaps only fair to suggest that we are now unlikely to meet our target of returning D6703 to traffic in time for her 60th birthday on December 28th 2020; it is not impossible, but the stall in time and the extra expenditure on a new block will inevitably take its toll further along in the project when attention turns to the bodywork and new funding will need to be sourced. Overall this not-so-minor deviation is expected to add an extra £27,000 to the total cost of the project. The sooner we can raise this additional funding, the sooner D6703 will return to traffic; if luck and a lot of generosity is on our side then maybe, just maybe, we can meet our original target, however, if it takes longer to accumulate those additional funds, then the timescale of D6703’s return will reflect this.

If you would like to support Project 3-60 and the return of the oldest production build class 37 to original condition, then please consider donating via the following link: https://www.paypal.com/uk/fundraiser/charity/40803

You can also support our sales team by checking out what we have to offer over at https://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/c37lg

Equally, why not become a member and be a part of the journey? Membership details can be found here: https://www.c37lg.co.uk/membership.aspx

So, there we have it, onwards and upwards! Be sure to watch this space because things are certainly going to get exciting from here on in as we bring you more news on the engine rebuild as it happens!

Thank you for your continued support.

The Class 37 Locomotive Group Committee.

Good morning everyone

We have received surprise delivery of MK1 POT Stowage vans from Bachmann this week. They must have found them hidden in the back of the warehouse.

Without advertising them, we have already sold three of the eight, they are still as popular when I had them back in February.

Hello everyone

Some of my regular customers, plus if you are a group member, you will know that after ten years this is my last year in charge of sales of the group, I handed my notice in over two years ago, as  I knew it might take some time for a C37LG member to come forward. My tenure ends at the start of November, we would prefer to have have someone in place by the end of October.

Unfortunately, at the time of writing this no one from our membership has. So I'm putting it out to my RMWeb followers if any of you fancy being a child in a sweet shop, and would like to run the group's online model store. I will give anyone full details if they are interested, but we only sell new Bachmann models, you need to have a good idea of how to use eBay, and it takes around two hours twice a week to sort out and post the models via the Royal mail.  You will have full control over what you can order within a budget of course, which you will need to collaborate with our chairman Gavin Wolfenden.

If you are interested please contact me at colewallace5@sky.com

Here is the good news for you all, it's my birthday tomorrow, and as a thank you to guys, for one week ONLY  I've reduced several models, as low as I can go, which haven't sold as well as we would have liked. Obviously we would have preferred to sell these  at full price, to make the restoration of D6703/37003, but if we don't shift a few more of these, we will struggle to purchase other new models that are due next year

not sure if this is the place for it...but anyway just received my Bachmann class 57 -57302 'Chad Varah' it has to be one of the best weathered locos I've seen in a while the detailing looks very good it even has the white lines on the wheels which I think are from the wheel lathe but I may be wrong?

The thing I came on here to say was how impressed I was with the price, packaging and service from the Class 37 group well done.

Thanks stock_2007, we aim to please as much as we can.

Right gents, a cracking model has landed on my doorstep today, I remember this loco at Norwich open day, and storming through Ipswich on freightliners, it was so special at the time with it's unusual livery, but for me the best bit, was it was the only class 37 at the time with skirts. Absolutely fantastic

Those of you that have pre-ordered I will be in touch over the weekend

Our most popular model is back

I would just like to echo the previous comments.

I've bought several items from Class 37 group in the past and i have received nothing but excellent customer service.

My second pair of Bachmann FGAs from you arrived today, as always very well wrapped and packed.

I would have been a frustrated child in your household at Christmas as the presents would have taken ages to get into with the way you pack and seal things lol

Now then 37116, hated the livery when i first saw it announced but now ive seen the photos of the model its drawing me in.........mmmm.

All the best

Thanks Philip, taken advantage of PayPal 0% credit offer to buy a Chad Varah :good_mini:

I was thinking of using that but bit confused as the site states 0% for 4 months but the example figures imply its for the full term of the repayment
