Is anyone who uses Opera able to use the website? I cant select anything to buy - it just does a download which I then cant open anyway. Seems to work fine in Explorer though.

Hi Hal, are you trying to download the catalogue?

No, on the website, shop, click on fine scale figures and I get a pop up "download complete". There isnt a download that does anything but this shouldnt happen anyway - in explorer I then see the figures to select

Ordered fine using explorer but you might want to look into why its not working in Opera (which filters out ads so it might be clashing there?).

Edit - its only actually fine scale figures doing this from the main icon and if I use the drop downs on the left instead, its only actually 1948 - 68 footplate crew that does it.

Cheers

I'm looking for a kilted Scotsman - a Highlander - and wondered if you've ever scanned one? The only figures I can find are wargaming ones in 'battle' poses with swords or guns. (CJL)

You could try modelling your own.

if you can find a figure with the head and upper body in the pose you like preferably from this collection since we are on the modlu thread,  you could crudely carve down his bottom and thighs and then more carefully shape his lower legs with a scalpel or files. You can use self adhesive aluminium tape to make the kilt.  You can buy if from most diy shops (when they open).  It is just thick self adhesive foil.  A roll will last you your modelling life.  Once you have had a few goes and got one you like, you can turn the figure upside down and carefully fill the kilt with a bit of epoxy otherwise it will remain just a bit of tape that can be squashed.  If you managed to carve some shapely calves (is that how you spell it) you can use a slither of the foil to create the tops of the highlanders socks.  Layering up some carefully cut shapes of foil will probably Make the sporran.

Or you could put a kilt on and get scanned!

Hi Ian,

It appears my hosting company moved me to a new server on Friday evening and this has caused some issues like the one you had experienced.  I had the same today trying to access the whole site - it is hopefully now solved, if you have any further oddities then a browser cache reset (F5) or (CTRL & F5) should sort it.

Cheers

Alan

Hi all, I'm a new modeler (not counting time spent as a kid/teenager) and started a layout.  I discovered Modelu people via the Little Muddle pages, got some figures, and love them.  Not literally, that would be weird.  I emailed a few pics to Alan and he suggested posting them on FacePlant.  Which I don't use.  So thought I'd pop them up here.  I see from other posts on RMWeb that the thing to do is state that I have no connection to the supplier, other than being a happy customer, so please take this post accordingly.  For all those in the same boat, starting afresh and wondering how to add a little style and panache to the layout, I would personally recommend Modelu figures.  And I have no connection to the supplier. I'm just a happy customer!...

Your forgot the platform line-up with the lady in red. I demand to see her again! :)

Hi Mikkel, the lady in red isn't a Modelu figure.  I'm going to pop a few more images on the blog thread about painting using lifecolor paints though...

Regarding lamps, I've not forgetten the other requests, I've not had time to get to grips with producing the fold up glazing with the silhouette cutter, so in the meantime I'll be working through some globe style lamps.  These will unfortunatley be opaque until I can find a solution for a clear lamp body.

  • 3 weeks later...

In late October I ordered a number of Modelu HO figures, when received they were on the sprues, not what I had expected and no mention made on their website that this would be their condition. I contacted Modelu who offered either for me to return the figures for a) them to remove them from the sprues and send them back or b) a  refund. I opted for a refund and the figures were posted in early November. To date no refund has been made despite reminders.

Not understanding what your issue is with figures being on the sprues? Very quick and easy to remove. Shouldn't be an issue for any railway modeller who has a sharp knife.

Totally agree with you as the sprue base gives something to hold on to whilst painting, just cut away the sprue legs which attaches to the upper parts of the body
