After years of one particular supplier, no names, who specialised in poses that were more static than a cigar store indian, and have gorilla arms....... or are plain undersized from another, it makes a change to get the figure so accurate. I used to make masters for 54mm figures, but 4mm is too much hassle these days, bad eyesight, old age, and arthritis do not help!

One Plea, some more Victorian figures, bustles and beards, but not together on one person!

Also there is a lack of climbing railway workmen, posed on ladders etc., and also figures with arms raised pulling on chains or ropes

Stephen

Wot! No bearded lady.

Definiitley "Revo Mosleys". There are hundreds, if not thousands of the blighters about on preserved railways.

Not knowing much about the technology but I've had thought that for the base it would be much easier & quicker (not taking into account travelling time) to scan.

Best I can do for dimensions at the mo:

I used to have a long base example in my garden for replanting but some bl**dy scrap man stole it before I could do the deed.

A side pic here showing the side detail:

Anybody buying a Revo Moseley for their layout could claim with all honesty they have a film star on the trainset:

22 seconds in,

and that very revo filmstar today:

Sadly I've got loads of other examples of revo's appearing in films and then there is the prototype for anything examples:

I've found a few on street corners in Shrewsbury if anything needs scanning

You'll end up getting arrested hanging around street corners!!

Would you be interested in scanning a Bracknell wills pantograph if I can get the use of one (away from the top of a train of course!!)

Looks like Shrewsbury authority have an highly enlightened attitude towards street furniture.

Even retaining a fluted type in the middle on a roundabout.

And turning through 180degrees

And then there's these.

Strangely most of the non fluted type appear to be Revo "Wolverhampton's" with a Revo Moseley top?

I hope most of them survive as most of the Google street images are dated 2012 and in the recent timespan local authorities have had funds ringfenced to upgrade and replace lamp standards to more efficient and "safer" standards. In a lot of instances this involves replacment of the entire upright then recovering some funds by selling og the cast iron jobs to Victoriana dealers.

If they are still there, long may they incandesce.

Edited to add a pun.  (Did ya spot it).

When referring to men pulling on chains, "and ropes"was edited out..... The point I was making is that separate arm figures do not pose well if the arms are raised.

The whole body changes stance and the clothes ride up, especially jackets, which if un-buttoned tend to open up at the front. Reaching upwards raises the waistline and pulls the trousers up off the shoes.

All of this could be recorded on a scan, but simpler posed figures are impossible to alter to get the look right for climbing workers or pulling above the head, like releasing a water tower valve.

I would add ladder climbing to that.

Hi Jim,

Thank you for the offer but I don't think it would scan too well, probably better done as an etch.  What would be good is scanning the ERTMS gear on a 97 if that could be possible? I've moved to Shrewsbury now so am only about 1/2 mile from the Coleham depot!

Cheers

Alan

Nor did I have any kind of toilet with me.

Were you wearing your colostomy bag or your incontinence pants Mr Stubby Sir ?

I heartily concur with our sheep man, LSWR platform lamps Alan.

The first batch of figures direct from the Pendon shop arrived safely in the post, excellent quality figures. The others are on back order with Modelu at present.

I assume that the plastic used is an ABS type. The surface quality is good, and the detailing as good as any other make of figures in 4mm. The stance and pose are of course as good as the scan and far better than most brands.

Hi Stephen,

Thanks for the feedback, I appreciate you taking time to give it.  The material is methacrylate and I'm in the process of finding a suitable solvent for use with it.  Up until now superglue has been the best glue to use.

What type of paint/primer seems to work best on this material?

I've used Halford's grey, white or black with good results and for painting either enamels or acrylics.  I prefer acrylics for their fast drying, mainly Lifecolor and Vallejo.  Lately I've been experimenting with applying a base layer of Lifecolor black with the airbrush as a primer as you have finer control than a rattle can.

Lifecolor paints - https://eileensemporium.com/index.php?option=com_hikashop&ctrl=category&task=listing&cid=1363&name=lifecolor-sets&Itemid=189

Vallejo Paints - https://www.dccsupplies.com/cat-832/vallejo-model-color.htm

The Lifecolor Flesh box set I find particularly good! https://eileensemporium.com/index.php?option=com_hikashop&ctrl=product&task=show&cid=2976&name=lifecolor-cs13-flesh-colours-paint-set&Itemid=443&category_pathway=4042

This is a great thread on the use of Vallejo paints and primers - http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/96995-vallejo-acrylic-paints/

The Vallejo range is very good indeed, although it does cost more than rivals, but then the rivals have crept upwards a lot as well. The semi transparent colours are excellent for detailing most model types. There are a couple of stockists locally as wargaming shops tend to stock it.
