Can you tell what it is yet...

...an old friend, not been used for many years,  is getting a bit of a quick make over...
...should look at home at Canute Road Quay

Oooh ill watch this with much interest as i want to do one, are you giving it a new chassis?

Mark

As this is a quick and dirty little project  and one day is likely to get replaced by an SEF kit and chassis all I have done is swapped the original chassis with its X04 motor that was highly visible in the frames, for a later version as it has better slow speed control and some detailing on the frame sides.

All I have done is to knock up in plastic some front sandbox’s and a representation of the guard irons within the compromise of the depth of the chassis.
It will suit the three foot rule!

Congratulations, Graham! Two Southern men at the helm can only be better than one.

Great set of photo's there. I really like the way the layout has so much potential for different era's or themes. That's got me thinking,  I wonder what the most modern era you could represent would be?

Further progress on the Billington E2 tank side cladding bolts, air tanks and other pipework added followed by an initial dusting of plastic primer to show up a few other areas to work on, and there are a few!

Have been experimenting photographically this morning with lighting, angles and depth of field for a future Making Quay Changes post moving the quay to a slightly different location. Here is a tease...

what do you think?

The photographic experimentation continues, this time with some focus stacking using #focusbracketing feature of the Canon G7 Mk3 and Canon Digital Photo Professional Software.

It's handled it well, no discernible areas of drop off of DoF between each of the steps. I'd have expected to see more fudging around the edges of the road sign given the large distance differential there but it's looking quite sharp.

Hi @Andy Y yes I agree the Canon software handles it well and very easy to use.
The G7 Mk 3 has a simple built in focus bracketing function (and is also f11 which gives pretty good dof without stacking).

Brilliant - the forced perspective with rolling stock in the immediate foreground really helps to give that impression of depth.

I agree, and I think that mastering 'stacking' brings a great benefit to model railway images; your Canon G7 looks like it copes with this very well.

Thanks for the feedback, I would add that that first image with the T class in the background was not using image stacking just the f11 smallest aperture on the G7 and choosing the focus point at approx 1/3 into the scene, near the yellow jacketed person.

Woof... I’m pleased to advise that my latest Dapol / Rails of Sheffield  ex LBSC / SR A1x unlike a few of my recent Dapol purchases has arrived in one piece and runs straight out of the box...
