long time..no bodging! Well odd bits have been done but holidays and crust earning has got in the way. But time is available at the moment and it is reasonably warm so..

Turned to being cold and rainy today so no painting ..but some other coach sides bodged together

LMS designed  Period III Third Corridor. a BR built version which will be in Maroon

 

 

LMS Period III Third which will also be finished in Maroon.

Sorry if I've missed it - I have been back through to see whether it has been asked or mentioned earlier in the thread - but what colours you use please? Specifically for cream, though the others would be interesting to know too.

for the red

 

Halfords red primer followed by Ford Rosso Red

 

for the cream

 

Halfords grey primer followed by Rover Primula Yellow.

 

I tone the "red" down by giving it a gentle ink.water weathering wash

Finished cutting the roof for each coach. Boy is that boring so...

 

How to build stock quickly.

 

First up a 1963 built Baltimore and Ohio (B&O) cushioned wagon.

 

 

 

and a B & O insulated Cushion underframe van.

 

 

Had these years .. bought them off the late Bill Eaglesham (MGS) .

 

And finished three Branchlines Kit Coaches (all C & O in resplendent Pullman Green). All are part of the George Washington Train

 

 

First up First Citizen

 

 

then Mount Vernon

 

and finally

 

Potomac.

 

I blame #Gordon S for mentioning American stock.

Been there a while . We should build a club USA layout with the amount of stock we have.

We did have Donford and Crystal Creek built by Innocentmans' brother. The latter featured Virginian Electrics and big coal trains.

This looks like a period 2 D.1782 TK but with the windows next to the end doors missing. The 60' opens had the doors between an end window and the bay windows. Many years ago I saw such a coach running (with the missing windows) on Trawden Junction.

Yes the look outs are sprayed but I will fit them at the end to make sure I can draw the lining on the coach sides more easily.

 

It is a D1722 FO ..as built as a dining saloon. There was also a Third Class variety of this coach - with littl external differences according to Messrs Jenkinson and Essery.

yes it is a TK.. wrong photo used. This is a Westdale kit built by a.n. other and can be completely dismantled using a screw driver,

A bit of progress made...

Westdale  Period III TK (Diagram 1899) complete! (and yes I have missed two no smoking window labels.

 

 

A bitza PDIII (late) TK M2249M (Diagram 2119)

 

 

and the other side with the added corridor side doors

 

another Bitza PDIII TK. note no extra doors on corridor side (Diagram 1899)

 

Bitza PDIII BFK M5053 (M) awaiting the second M!

 

Bitza PdII/upgraded to PDIII BCK D1720A

 

 Pd II D1722 FO - used for Dining later downgraded to a Diagram 1721 TO

 

and the other side

 

 and finally a PD I BCK to D1755. Duckets will be fitted once I have lined this.

 

 

3 have Comet etched chassis. The rest have aluminium floors ( I had a few spare) with 247/Comet castings and plastruct trussing.

 

Next up.. finish underframes, finish fitting the bogies and couplings. Add window decals and numbering. Line the ones unlined, number and complete internal details .. then ..lots of holes to be drilled to allow roof sections to be finished,

I should have tried to build 4 of them not all 8 of them at once. Now running out of seats and fittings. All are painted and lined, Roof sections are all detailed. Three are complete, 2 others await fine details and roof painting teh other two await interior parts.!

I tend not to build more than three of anything at one go. I get bored if I do.

One at a time is enough for me - that's why I tell customers I don't build coaches any more. The last one I built was a dynamometer car so that was a reasonable exception. I sometimes get asked if there is a discount for building more than one loco at a time, I tend to say no, the price goes up to alleviate my boredom.

On my current LBA (lockdown boredom alleviator) workbench are some Parkside and Red Panda shocvans, I don't think the chassis sticks out beyond the van end sufficiently, so I've added a strip of 040 X 040 styrene at each end to lengthen the chassis, maybe that would work as a quick fix for your vans?

How many Palvan Shock models have you seen on 00 layouts?

The "normal" Parkside Shock vans and opens look OK to me.mine wobble back and forth as i make the joint between the body and Chassis as loose as I could. 

 

For the Pal Shock the body should be slightly shorter - if you look at the door hinges length was lost there as well as in the sides elsewhere. When you look at prototype photos the overhang is not large at all as te#he springs are centering the body of the wagon.
