You can't see it now though some other items received a quick weathering today 4F with high sided tender.. I need to return and add a new "4" Bachmann Patriot "Royal Tank Corps". The light isn't good enough to show up teh variations in the weathering on loco and tender Weathered Jinty. All need their motion weathering (a job for tomorrow as is adding some chassis dirt) and three minerals wagons.. includingMy vac fitted one. RMweb Premium Barry O Posted June 12, 2020 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted June 12, 2020 been busy painting and decorating ..didn't feel like gearbox mangling so been building some of my roundtuit wagon kits.. A dead easy kit to build a Parkside Mink D and less easy to build Cambrian ex MR 10/12T van Parksode Palvan, BR Lowfit and a Kirk ex LNER van - started a while ago my son, youngest Herbert, and to show the vac fitted 16T mineral has a vac cylinder but is missing the operating gubins here it is with the Lowfit.. Finish underfarmes, Paint, add buffers and add transfers and couplings.. that should happen tomorrow although I might just build gearboxes.. RMweb Premium Barry O Posted June 15, 2020 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted June 15, 2020 No gearboxes as yet as I am busy painting and decorating..PAH! But I have moved the wagons along a bit. I do have a question though. The following van is a very old Parkside Kit. it is of an LNER van (I believe) but...which one? Any help would be appreciated. Erichill16
Actually may be PC61 12t van. Fruit van has roof vent and end vents. Also fruit van kit has small ‘fruit’ plates.

Baz It's an LNER wartime van. Diagram 161 with an LNER fitted underframe, 170 if unfitted. I'm assuming it has wooden end stanchions and a hooded wooden ventilator at each end. 900 vans built to d.170 with numbers 253898-254797. 250 vans of the same design built for the LMS to D2079 numbered 521290-539. Info from Tatlow. If it has no hooded ventilators but louvred ventilators at the bottom of the ends then it's the corresponding fruit van and should have a vac fitted underframe. Simon No vemts on the ends. I do have a fair few fruit vans but this one is just a plain unfitted van... thanks for your help. And it is a historic vehicle, the one railway wagon built by my youngest son. Baz
RMweb Premium 65179 Posted June 16, 2020 RMweb Premium Share Posted June 16, 2020 (edited) A bit of a mixture then. The side details fit with the vans I referred to. Earlier LNER wooden vans generally have the planks on the sides running to bottom of the sides with a bottom door runner a little way up the side as well like this one on Paul Bartlett's site: https://paulbartlett.zenfolio.com/lnercoveredmerchandise/h2bfaf650 Assuming the planks on the ends are horizontal (not vertical as on LNER fish vans) then adding a wooden hooded ventilator at each end would be one way to get to the d.170 if you want to change it, but their absence is hardly a big issue if it's going to be viewed mid-train from the side! RMweb Premium Barry O Posted June 25, 2020 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted June 25, 2020 Simon apologies I missed your post. All was made clear by youngest Herbert saying he had filed the ends flat and redone the planks as it didn't look right!! New vents now added, the brake gear means its an ex LMS one.. just got to number it as, after a bit of faffing about, I manged to fasten some plasticard planks etc on ...Typical!! RMweb Premium Barry O Posted July 5, 2020 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted July 5, 2020 After a bit of a hiatus I have been trying to get my MTK Trans Pennine Unit (first put together in 1982) into running Order. I acquired 2 Replica power units (with the correct wheel sizes) at Peterborough last year. I thought.. dead easy job this.. er no. So I fastened all of the resin mouldings I got from Mike Cole (Q Kits), changed the Ks met cam bogies for more recent plastic versions (bought form Charley at DC Kits when he had some yonks ago, Removed the plastic corridor connectors (they had turned into rock and broke up.. replaced by some I bought a while ago then cut and hacked the two Brake Second Corridor coaches to allow the Replica chassis to fit. Then had to build up the Compartments to fit (the floors are higher than normal so you need to build them to fit.) Then .. well trying to get it to run up the Hill out of the Barnbow Fiddle Yards took a while. Only one photo today ( kept chuckinitdarn and going dark so Light was variable!) More soon (I hope) Baz
cheesysmith
Your vac fitted 16toner need a tie bar between the w irons, unless it is a clasp 8 shoe brake version. Easy job with a bit of thick wire and a touch of superglue.

RMweb Premium Barry O Posted July 10, 2020 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted July 10, 2020 Trans Pennine adventures continue.. These were built a long while ago. I have some items missing from the original kit ( two exhaust pipes being the most obvious. Of course you photograph a bit of stock and you spot bits which need sorting I have removed the 1st Class sticker but will wait until I have to go back inside the Driving Motor Composite to get the window labels on the windows The Replica unit is under the Motor Brake Second Corridor Nest two are the open Second and the Griddle Car. Never managed to travel in the Griddle Car but I have heard the minute steaks were nice! And yes the "1" has been removed The other DMC has full window labels (typical) and the Photo of that pair has vanished into windows world!
