RMweb Premium Barry O Posted February 14, 2022 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted February 14, 2022 It is an ex LMS Period II Semi Open First. I am building two of these. One for use on Shap and one for Leeds (London Road) More progress soon, Baz 1 1
5 C
I always thought the Period II stock to be the most elegant of all LMS coach designs. It must have been a joy to watch the world go by through those large single pane windows. 2
RMweb Premium Barry O Posted February 27, 2022 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted February 27, 2022 (edited) A bit of progress.. Comet chassis built and painted. Stepboards to fit. Bachmann bogies in place. Roof detail and glazing to fit. Body is in first coat. they fit together ok. I have the corridor bit of the interior so it's the restaurant seats to sort out. Then some stones ventilators (the holes for these are very short.. not like the photographs in the Jenkinson and Essery books.) Then cut and fit the roof.. Add lining etc... RMweb Gold farren Posted February 27, 2022 RMweb Gold Share Posted February 27, 2022 The Comet P II’s are lovely coaches I’ve built the pII composite( I think) and have a couple more to build when it’s warm enough in the conservatory to do so. All ways good to see your builds look forward to updates. 1

Baz Tony Hammond made some great brass kits for this stock. I have the lounge brake running on my line. Looking forward to seeing this built. RMweb Premium Barry O Posted March 20, 2022 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted March 20, 2022 (edited) at last.. it has had a high level of not enough time to get this finished problems.. but The SFO is almost complete Now it needs a trial run on Leeds (London Road) before it joins the stock on Shap! RMweb Premium Barry O Posted October 31, 2023 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted October 31, 2023 Long time.. no visit. Lots of bodging going on but a layout under construction is now slowing progress (and picture taking has not been easy! The semi open First has been running on Shap at various exhibitions. Very few visitors (if any) have noticed this "different" coach.. The second coach is waiting for my usual winter time coach building time along with a lot of others! I will try and get some photos of recent work completed on here asap. Baz
