Jintyman Posted January 8, 2019 Author Share Posted January 8, 2019 A belated Happy New Year to all. Here are a couple of Skytrex Depressed Vee tanks finished off last week. Fitted with Peartree wheels, Slaters Oleo Buffers and Dapol Screw Couplings. Finished in plain grey livery and weathered with some cement crusting here and there and a bit of road dirt. 10819 and 10987. Air pies, Air control Pipes, Partial repaint with yellow and Rail Red sections, Slaters Oleo Buffers and weathered. I'm aware that these should also have roller bearings, but that was not doable on this occasion. These two are the Heljan OAA's patch painted to show replaced planks, etc. Then weathered as a 'in use' vehicles for a customer. I also have a couple more that will be ready to come off the WB this week. More very soon, including some locos that have been waiting to come off the WB for a little while. Took the day off work today, and spent it asleep mostly!!! Anyway, here are another couple of ZDA's that have been weathered and patch painted last week. Not sure how I got the frosty effect on the trees............................................ I can only load 3 pictures of 2.5mb per post at the moment, as there is a limit on picture uploads, might have to trim them down a bit more. Hopefully more very soon Jinty Hi Jinty, Sorry to hear your still no better. Get well soon mate. With pictures, currently you can only attached 10MB per post. Depending on your image software, try saving as a JPG and you'll have an option to set the compression level between 1 (bloody awful!) and 10 (best quality). Try saving at about 5 and you'll find they will all be less than 1MB in size. Obviously, don't over-right the originals! Another alternative is save as a PNG if your software will let you. I notice it's been a bit cold over their this week, I think we where lucky with the weather when we where over at Christmas for a few weeks we even had a bit of sun on a few days though down South does tend to be a tad warmer. I have a question re fitting a Zimo decoder to my class 25. I have removed a motor and I am thinking of getting a Zimo mx645r with class 25 sound I am wondering what speaker you would use and is it possible to wire up the roof fan to the decoder so that it still works. Jintyman Posted February 3, 2019 Author Share Posted February 3, 2019 Hi Peter, Yes I'm feeling a tad better today, might even wander into the garage. For the class 25, I've done it a couple of ways. On one, I removed one motor and used an MX645R. I did notice that the gear tower binded slightly so I removed all the intermediate gears in the bogie and let it run smoothly. Obviously keeping the pick-ups. On others I've left the motors in place and for a few pounds more than a MX645R, you can get a MX645P22 and an ADAPLU adaptor board which increases the motor load enough for a twin motored class 25. As for speakers, I have my own bass reflex speakers which I place on pedestals facing down through the bogie apertures. I remove the fan gubbins and glue the fan to the top of one of the speakers where it should go. So I'm not sure if the fan can be controlled ok from the Zimo range, the best person to ask is Paul Chetter (pauliebanger on here), I would imagine it could as Zimo tends to be much better with controllable function outputs than ESU, etc. I have a picture of an ESU fitting I did a long while ago showing the mounting and position of the speakers. A 25/3 that I dug out the other day just to try a couple of little detail alterations on, finished as a workworn Crewe example, 25285 in BR Blue. Jinty Thanks mate, VERY nice indeed, it's booked for a Ballast working on Seven Mills Sidings quite soon I think. Also the 37 and 47 will be booked on MOD and Engineers Duties once you've finished with them. I need to get on and weather some of my Stock soon, but at the moment my modelling time has gone from about 4 hours a day to 6 hours a WEEK.
