tc Posted November 14, 2016 Share Posted November 14, 2016 Our next open Sunday is on 20th November 2016, a joint special event with the S Scale Model Railway Society to celebrate its 70th anniversary - with six working layouts on display: MRC Layouts: Copenhagen Fields (2mm FS), Empire Mills (EM), MRC Members' layouts: Koindu and Moa Crossing (S - based on Sierra Leone), Blacklade (OO) and Grape Steet Bridge (S) Visiting Layout: Trevor Nunn's Trowland (S) Plus we will have a good selection of pre-owned models available from our shop, and of course refreshments (including a selection of freshly made rolls and Greene King beers) will be available. Open from 11am to 4pm. Admission: Adults £3, accompanied children: Free Entry for MRC and S Scale society members is free upon presentation of a current membership card. If you apply to join The MRC on the day, you get your admission back and pay the equivalent of £1 a week to the end of 2017. More details here We also have some Skills Transfer days coming up, with spaces still available for members and non-members alike: Sunday 4th December 2016 - Build Your Wagon - Building rolling stock from plastic kits. Objective : To build a plastic wagon kit in 4mm scale. (The techniques apply equally to other scales) Price - £25, reduced to £18 for MRC members. Cost includes a van kit. Sunday 29th January 2017 - An introduction to soldering for kits - how to successfully make etched and cast metal kits Objective: To be able to solder brass and other metals to make etched and other kits, plus looking after your iron and basic techniques for preparing metal kits Price - £25, reduced to £18 for MRC members. Cost includes metals and solders plus a small etched 'kit' to practice on. Sunday 12th February 2017 - Trees and Shrubs - Building Effective Landscapes. Objective: Learn the techniques to build realistic trees and shrubs for your layout - including plenty of hands on practice. Price - £25, reduced to £18 for MRC members.
