1975 was the Stockton and Darlington 150th anniversary issue with the line drawings of locomotives on the cover. The Jubilee one was 1974.

A good thing we didn't have the internet then - imagine the frothing!  Hornby are going to do City of Truro AND Jenny Lind!!!

Rocket was ok, Triang-Hornby had produced an OO gauge one some years previously, but no-one expected....  the huge live steam one that was to come only a few years later!

Whatever it is, will be revealed at 11AM tomorrow

Just to add to the froth

What's under the black cloth?

What it was is on a text message on my phone........! Just returned from the NEC after setting up and it's all still around the Hornby stand.

Some people will be happy,

Some people will say "nothing in it for me"

There's a convenient space on the Bachmann Collectors club stand for their XXX

Cheers,

Mick

"Some will be happy, some won't"?

That's a fairly strong statement to make. Are you sure you need to stick your neck out THAT far?

Wouldn't it be funny if Bachmann, Hornby, Rapido/Realtrack all announced that they are releasing 156's.

So they have taken a leaf out of the Titanic disaster and will play us a tune as the ship goes down?

" Near ........ Far

Wherever you are,

I believe that the froth will... Go on......"

CAnadian warblings eh? Does that mean we can expect a sound based product from Rapido?

Strangly where I am with all this froth. I am struggling to think of any one item that will get me excited. I can see a loco out the top 10 to 15 of last years wish list. After that we'll see a few new wagons etc.

If I was to add to the wish list I would be voting for (and did) the 20t hopper from the NER as they are not really available in kit form and they match the Q6.

I do hope Hornby have not made a mistake with all the gloss Gresley loco's. I am really over the same "limited editions" of A4's etc ok we have had the great gathering, the great good bye, the silver set, now the Gresley 4 yes some serious collectors will buy them all... as long as their pensions hold out. But come on and give us some more interesting editions and help out the preserved railways... I can see from a business point of view people always buy the glamour puss Pacifics but it would be nice to have some more of the lessor produced names. Personally the Pacifics no longer hold the interest as they don't run nicely on my layout... give me more of the medium sized loco's and the style of the pecketts.

Any how i am not going to be at warley... being 20000kms away in Australia does put paid to that!

So I'll find out at 11:30 then!  I just hope the "key announcements" are accompanied by some useful photos too.

If anyone is interested, I won't be going to Australia this weekend. I have seen warm weather, cold lager and cricket before. Of course I might go to New Zealand...

I predict a good show, busy but with no "scrums" for newly released items 'cos there won't be any!

New announcements similarly thin because for all it's prominence as the premier model railwat exhibition in the UK calendar this isn't what Warley is about any more.

Which means, time to enjoy layouts and specialist traders without the old rush through the turnstiles towards the "box shifters" which is surely no bad thing?
