You weathering skills never cease to amaze me, Paul !  I have bought a load of weathering powders, but have yet to muster up the courage to try it out !

Your one step closer than me Andi! I can't muster the courage to buy em!! If I did I'd have to have a go, and that spells disaster in my mind!!! But I agree entire with you on Paul's weathering skills. Outstanding.

Thank you so much it really is appreciated mate, don't be scared, i know on the bogies I add the first layer to wet paint but you don't have to, just add the powder same as the body, if your not happy you can just wipe it off. Just rember though when you seal it the varnish will tone it down quite a bit, hence why this has took me five layers. Also the powder gets everywhere so best avoiding the living room carpet or anywhere where the wife will moan ;)

Thanks again

A quick dry blast with the airbrush to remove any loose powder and the tanks and bogie sides were refitted.

Really happy with how it's turning out.

I'll probably tackle the bogies and tanks on the blue 37 next then I'll add numbers and weather the bodies of both 37's and the 40.

I started on the blue 37's the other night, the wheels were painted in usual manner then the bogies where given a coat of weathered black.

Tonight I've added a second coat then added the first layer of powders whilst still wet.

These will be darker than the green 37's bogies with a bit more grease an oil spill.

That's a huge benefit of the Heljan system of bogie construction, just so easy to pop'em off and really easy to get to work on them.

I know it's great, so much easier especially when using powders, the same with the tanks they just unscrew so weathering is a dream, I need to pop the bodies off next :O

Just a bit of a progress report regarding a layout, I am still planning ELJ in 7mm but before I really dive into that I will be building something else that's a bit more manageable and that I've been planning for a good few weeks now. I've decided on a trackplan and location so once the track starts going down I'll let you all in on it.

In the mean time lots of weathering to be done ;)

Last nights weathering efforts and a bit of early morning weathering with sun rising natural light.

This 37 seems that be having or had an oil leak!

Apart from planning and research for the layout I've finished the weathering on the chassis of the blue 37, there will need to be a few touch ups and silver adding to the footsteps but pretty pleased with how it's turning out.

This one is a lot more oiled up than the previous one so has obviously suffered some kind of oil leak or something recently.

D6921 all ready for weathering, finally got the courage up to try my hand at Railtecs water slide arrows, so considering I've never done it before I'm pretty pleased.

Thought something didn't look right and I've used early font numbers instead of late font! New ones just been ordered, at least the arrows look ok :)
