Are Bachmann going to have their discounted returns items (a.k.a. The infamous Bachmann Scrum!) there this time? It was missing last time and I was disappointed as a result.

Why not ring them and ask ?

But you will/should have a better chance of actually getting close enough to see them!

TBH I don't usually have much of a problem in that regard at Warley - I've always tended to go straight down to the far end and work back rather than follow the crowd. Yes, I have to pass them about halfway down the hall but it tends not to affect that many layouts.

Would anybody taking a layout to this show from afar please be kind enough to let me know, either by open reply or by PM, the location of the accommodation that has been arranged for them? I'm keen to know for future reference just how far exhibitors are expected to travel through London traffic in order to get to and from their accommodation before and after set-up and the full days at the show. Thanks in advance.

Hello

In the past accommodation has been at the Travel-lodge on the North circular road at Walthamstow. we are there next year so I assume it will be the same. Takes between 15 and 45 minutes depending on the time of day and the traffic.

                                                                                        Cheers

Thanks. Strangely, my search isn't showing a Travelodge ON the N. Circular at Walthamstow. Either way, a potential 45 minute journey in / out doesn't sound very attractive. When show weekends replace the only rest from the working week, the early morning starts needed in order to ensure that all aspects of layout and stock are ready, can be too early for me even when the accommodation is close to the show.

Hi Graham,

I'm there with Green Ayre and have asked Nick Freezer the same question, the answer is that is it the Premier Inn at Enfield near Junction 25 of the M25.   The RAC route planner is showing the distance as approx. 10 miles depending on route with a travel time of approx. 30 minutes.

had somewhere similar this year, I could only do one day and it took the operating crew an hour and a quarter due to roadworks, I was back in Sandy with a cuppa before they got to the hotel.

Accommodation was fine it was the roadworks on the North circular which were the issue.

So Vic line to FPK, then you have a choice of Picc to Wood Green and bus up the hill, or GN to Ally Pally for the bus? Sounds quicker to me.

If you're taking the Victoria line to Finsbury Park, there's also the option of the W3 bus (from outside the Wells Terrace entrance), up the hill to the bottom of the steps in front of the main foyer at Ally Pally. This bus then continues down the hill to the GN Alexandra Palace railway station and Wood Green station (Piccadilly Line).

Over the years, I've used all 3 of these stations when visiting shows at Ally Pally - I tend to avoid the GN "Alexandra Palace" station, mainly because the train services are less frequent than the tubes (and the changes seem a lot more awkward).

I've generally found changes between Victoria and Piccadilly lines (or vice versa) at Finsbury Park to be very straightforward - get off one train - find one of the link passages to the adjacent platform and you can see your connecting train either waiting for you or on its way into the platform.

As for the Finsbury Park v. Wood Green question, I usually use Finsbury Park on my way to shows - and Wood Green on my way back (especially if I've got time for a meal at the Wetherspoons across the road from Wood Green tube).

Huw.
