Set-track hunt

Recommended Posts

Hi all

Does the Peco Code 100 range have a 914mm curve in it? Ive had a quick search and couldnt find one anywhere. Just wondering if I will have to make my own from flexi track.

Cheers

Radius or diameter?

I was under the impression that Peco Setrack used identical geometries to Hornby.

The Hornby radii are:

1st - 371 mm

2nd - 438 mm

3rd - 505 mm

4th - 572 mm

Sorry yes I'm looking for a 914mm diameter curve. I'm assuming I will have to use flexibtrack and custom cut it.

ALL OO/HO 'Setrack' - whether produced by Hornby, Bachmann or Peco follows the above standards and is fully compatible with each other.

Peco 'code 100' does not feature pre-curved track, the intention being (as with 'code 75' or 'code 83' that modellers will bend flexitrack to suit their requirements).

Pre curved tack is referred to as 'Setrack' and comes from a variety of manufactures - and although it features the same rail section as Peco's 'code 100' range meaning the two can be combined, the geometry of the points in each range and the resultant spacing when double track is formed from them will be different.

There is a 914 mm Tracksetta curve you could use to help get the radius correct with flexi track.  Available from most model shops.

For anyone with reasons for not wanting to use flex Roco have a number of large radius set track curves.

42426  604.4mm radius 30 degree angle

42427  826.4mm radius 15 degree angle

42428  888mm radius 15 degree angle

42430  1962mm radius 5 degree angle

Gaugemaster have them all at £2.30, £2.05 for 42430.

Shinohara make Code 100 in eleven different radii from 406mm to 914mm radius, including the 457mm (914mm diameter) that you require. Here are a few links giving details.

Within the Hornby range there is also the R628 curve designed to go with their Y point. It has a radius of 852mm and arc 11.25°.

Peco also have this curve in their Setrack range (ST-238 Special Curve or ST-2038 Special Curves (two)) and Bachmann (36-628

Single Curve Large Radius 852mm Arc 11.25). The Bachmann ones are made from the former Hornby tooling that stayed with Roco in Austria when Hornby moved production to China.
