Jammy2305
My eyes really struggle to read those yellow numbers on that shade of grey, was that an intentional wartime ploy? Not wartime; The numbers were a feature of the GER's 'Train Control System' which came into use in 1921.
RMweb Gold Bucoops Posted January 11, 2019 RMweb Gold Share Posted January 11, 2019 (edited) My eyes really struggle to read those yellow numbers on that shade of grey, was that an intentional wartime ploy? I believe the size of the numbers was increased post-war as part of a change in recognition methods for meeting the timetable. edit - oops missed the above reply. RMweb Premium gc4946 Posted January 11, 2019 RMweb Premium Share Posted January 11, 2019 I've looked at images of Oxford's LNER version but surprised there's no red lining, as it was applied to those classes which predominantly worked on passenger duties.
RMweb Premium gc4946 Posted January 11, 2019 RMweb Premium Share Posted January 11, 2019 I should also add it's crying out for a Quad- or Quint-Art carriage set because I'd have to invoke Rule 1 and run it with my collection of teak 51' non-corridors!

RMweb Premium gc4946 Posted January 11, 2019 RMweb Premium Share Posted January 11, 2019 (edited) OR76N7001IMG_6972.jpg The first Oxford Rail Class N7 locomotive has arrived at Oxford Rail and will be in stock next week! Oxford Rails OO OR76N7001 GER K85 Class N7 0-6-2 Tank Locomotive No.1002 Some of the Scotrail Mark 3 coaches are also due next week My late gran (born 1913) lived near Bramford (outside Ipswich) I don't think it ever visited there during GER days! The North Norfolk Railway are restoring 1899 GER brake 3rd 853 but I can't see Oxford release a rake of close-coupled GER 4-wheelers or 54-footers to accompany the loco in a few weeks time! http://nnrailway.blogspot.com/ Edited January 11, 2019 by gc4946

45568
Absolutely - no-one even makes a kit for the Quints Ian Kirk used to, (8866). and I believe Colin Ashby took them over, Unfortunately they then fell in to black hole tat is the "C" word! They still occasionally surface on EBay, built a set 20-odd years ago, they are waiting for the N7! and have been since I built them. Cheers from Oz, Peter C.

The current owner of the moulds makes trump look trustworthy... Took months to get a refund on the set I ordered and I'm one of the lucky ones who DID get a refund.
MartinTrucks
There are these bodyshells on (Loads Of Money) Shapeways, if anyone is desparate for a kit of a quad or quint. I have not checked the accuracy of the diagrams so I am assuming that there are shells to assemble a GN quad and 2 types of GE quint sets. https://www.shapeways.com/shops/recreation21?section=1%2F76+versions&s=0&page%5Bnumber%5D=7&page%5Blimit%5D=48&page%5Border%5D=asc
