Graffiti 70s style

Recommended Posts

There was a witty one on a bridge I saw, years ago, the original saying 'Read the Daily Worker', then someone had painted a 'D'  before 'Read'.  On a wall on the way into Scunthorpe, someone once painted the Typhoo-Tea joke insulting the town ! ( Can't put it on here, ask someone else !)

Out of period but worth recalling. In the mid-late 1980's Glasgow, there was hardly a wall between Candleriigs and Bridgeton cross that didn't have 'AL JOLSON' sprayed on it. :-)

In 1977 in East Kilbride, I saw a bit of underpass graffiti paraphrasing a TV ad popular at the time; "TOIKIN YA BASS 1981 - SIMPLY YEARS AHEAD". No Idea who Toikin was but he sure wasn't a hobbit!

Dave.
