KingJohn
Hi Does anyone know if the Bulldog "Pershore Plum" 3353 ever ran with the shirtbutton livery? Rich It is more than possible. There is a picture of 3364 Frank Bibby in this condition (http://picclick.ie/GWR-postcard-size-photograph-3364-Frank-Bibby-371862375650.html#&gid=1&pid=1) currently on Ebay. RMweb Premium Welchester Posted February 17, 2017 RMweb Premium Share Posted February 17, 2017 If the photographer here had stood a little further back, or cropped his print differently, you might have had your answer. http://www.warwickshirerailways.com/gwr/gwrsa3194.htm
Richard Mawer
Hi Thanks for your contributions guys. Yes I've seen that one! Annoying isn't it. There is another taken at Snow Hill, but I can't make out any markings on the tender. I have also found a number of photos of other Bulldogs in Shirtbutton and I agree, it is highly likely that she would have worn that livery. She must have been repainted/overhauled between 1936 and 1942, but if it was later in that period, she could have been outshopped in wartime black. It would be nice to have a clear photo or some record of the date of being outshopped in the shirtbutton era. I really like that livery and want to use it, but not if it is certain that she was never in that livery. Rich
Clearwater
Rich If you don't have it, there's a few shots of Pershore Plum in PB Whitehouse's GW in the West Midlands. If you've not got it, I'll have a look later. There's also a blog I found on a 4mm build (from memory) of a Pershore Plum I found when googling doing my own research a year or so ago. Clearwater
Hi I've had a look in the whitehouse book. There's two shots of Pershore Plum. In one, you can't see the tender livery for reflections. In the other, dated 1932, the liveryis great western no crest in between David
Richard Mawer
Thanks chaps. Seems this lady is camera shy of her back end. Seeing as the rest of my layout is possible but fiction, I'll go with shirtbutton. Rich
