The change iof name came about because in previous years, the EMGS events were known as EXPO EM and EXPO EM North. As both events are now of a similar size and quality, since the North event moved to a bigger venue, it was suggested that calling them Spring and Autumn rather than EXPO and EXPO North (which implied a subsidiary event) would reflect the more equal status.

There was also a hope that dropping the "North" might encourage a few more visitors too go to the event in September. There was a perception amongst some members that the names suggested that EXPO EM was a national event but EXPO North was a local one. Perhaps when it was half the size of the Bracknell event that may have been the case but not any longer. When all is said and done, Manchester is more Central than North anyway!

Having said that, both shows are well worth a visit. If you want a friendly welcoming atmosphere, excellent layouts, top drawer specialist trade and demo stands, these two are hard to beat. There are no barriers and plenty of chance to chat and pick up a few tips (or even pass some on).

They might even let me in with a stand, so maybe I am biased!

I will be bringing along a collection of models from Buckingham, by the late Rev. Peter Denny as a static display.

This year is the 70th anniversary of the start of the Buckingham layout and some of the models I bring will be the original locos and carriages built back in 1947. It is also the centenary of the birth of Peter Denny, so it will be a double celebration of the man and his models.

Looking forward to this. Only week and a bit to go.

I'll be manning the 'Starting in EM help desk' all weekend so if anyone wants to know anything about moving to 18.2mm EM or 18.83mm P4 come and have a chat.

Certainly won't have all the answers but I'm fairly sure I'll be able to point you in the right direction. That'll be towards a host of other demonstrators who'll be able to go into more detail than I will!

I'll just be coming to buy components.

Judging from this thread there is no trade.

Fortunately I've been to the web site and see there is quite a line up.

It wouldn't hurt to post them up here...   its not often you get free publicity.

Not criticising, just an idea.

Is there any overflow parking available please?

The car park is big enough to cope with the show and the usual sports facilities together. It certainly was last year.

The only difficulty I noticed last year was the modern tendency of using one car to straddle two bays.

All packed up and ready to go. Always one of the most enjoyable shows in the exhibition year and I am really looking forward to seeing everybody there.
