Slightly OT but can anyone please help or advise me on how I can draw the cab of this Bedford RL to make a decent print?

cheers,
Mike

Michael Pearce at Osborn’s has an S series cab in the Arch laser range which would just need a headlight move. He might explain how he drew it. Otherwise a question in the 3D printing forum on here with a photo of the RL cab might elicit some help.

HI Mike there are already printed  Bedford RL and Mk's  available from butlerprintedmodels.co.uk at very reasonable prices.

I havnt seen any of their models yet but they look quite good for the price (may need a little work). scale sizes quoted 10-12 mm

1/144. numerous types available hard ans soft skin vehicle also tracked and fieldguns.

good hunting. Regards Ray.

Hi Ray,

yes, I have 15 or so of their models; including 7 Bedford RL's.   They are printed in FDM which leaves very hard layers/striations and I find it very difficult to smooth them down to a good finish; the models also have solid windows, hence why I want to print my own in smooth UV resin.  I can then either use Glue 'n Glaze for the windows or print my own glazings in clear resin.

cheers,
Mike

Following on from a thread on NGF I have taken over 2 buses from Bruce on NGF, these will hopefully be in the range from launch. I am working and adjusting them to suite my caster. I am hoping to carry on working with Bruce as he works on more models in the future.

N-scale designs for 3D printed vehicles are widely  used in recent years. Started with companies who sell the ready parts or models. N-scaled for 1/160, 1/1244, 1/148. The 3D layout design format should be convertible to any software.

It is possible to google the best printers for that. As the technology goes forward the prices go down.

And it is possible to find recommendations and a way for existing printer amendments if it is possible for a certain printer model.

Is it just me or do they look like flat cutouts of spooky photographs of the full size cars?! Very realistic all the same.

Please to announce the next group of models that will hopefully be ready at launch are 1960 Bedford CA (pics below). I am currently going through all the models making changes and preping the masters as requested by the resin caster, the aim is to finish this over Christmas / new year break.

I need to make some changes to these to aid casting but the basics are there and look great.

Hi Richard,I like your Bedford ca!s. they are a must for the 60!s period as there were so many of them about.

I hope you managed to get your printer sorted or have you gone the whole hog and bought tour self an early Christmas presant.

Look forward to seeing all your products on the market.

Happy holidays. Regards Ray.

Found these on eBay…seller also does painted examples and several other vehicles including a Morgan 4/4.

looks like they’ll need a bit of sanding. The CF van and Diesel Transit have potential.

Excellent value at under £9 for three and free postage (if I read that right). The Bedford CF looks promising, just a shame the other two are available from other suppliers.

Indeed….I have ordered a set.
I see CMAC / M0rris has also got a Cortina Mk5, Humber Sceptre ( Arrow body), Rover 100 and Reliant Supervan listed now on Shapeways.

I have indeed - these have all successfully printed through shapeways and I am hoping to get some painted examples finished in the next week.

My set of three have already turned up. They're not bad but not quite sure about their size - I'll need to check.

I've also reordered some of the CMAC/Morris vehicles including the Cortina Mk5 and Sweeney Granada Mk1. I did order some before but the system seemed to fall over and Shapeways cancelled the order. Hopefully, it'll go through okay this time but the issues will be the effect of Covid on international deliveries and the fact that the courier they use can't seem to find my address and always delivers it elsewhere.

They do seem rather small. And while I've not measured them I've taken some hasty (hence poor quality) snaps in comparison with other N gauge Trannies. The green one is R Parker and the fawn one is RailNscale. I suspect the Replitek one is 1:160 scale (or maybe 2mm scale) instead of 1:148 scale. But I do like the fine steering wheel and wing mirrors:
