Quite liking this new forum software, all new and shiny.

I like trying to resurrect old wagons that I pick up on my travels. This is a plastic low roof siphon, but the underframe was built so twisted that it had a wobble to it and the roof was badly damaged. I've pulled the sides apart and now trying to convince the chassis to sit straight, I've added a couple of strips to the bottom to hold it together.

Inserting images is much nicer!!!

Hopefully, I'll have this in primer by the weekend and also running square!

I really thought this low roof siphon was going to be beyond repair.. But, she is coming together quite nicely now.  Anyone that has any 6 wheel wagons knows they can be a pain at the best of times, I will probably have little dodge and put a smaller wheel in the centre, so it never touches the track. My best running one has a flangeless set in the middle, but I've no idea where they came from.

I finished building the roof from plastic card last night and then gave it a coat of white primer. I ended up building two extra 'shims' inside the van, this did two things. Gave the sides more rigidity as it was a bit floppy, but more importantly gave the roof something to shape against, when I tried without I couldn't get it to form the way I wanted.

Then I started playing with the keen coupling system on one of my B sets. This set has been destined to have some work done for a while and then one of the couplings broke!

If I can get them to sit this close, I'll be happy.

Then the droplights need a touch-up, the roof needs painting, the underframe wants weathering. Oh and I've 2 packets of flush laser glaze that I'm dreading doing.

Started the lazer glaze this weekend on both B set coaches. That way I can swap between them to let the windows dry a little.

Drives you mad. I've some that have gone in perfectly, others look like I've got glue and glaze on them and it's not dried clear. I've gone back over them with a small cotton bud and some window cleaner, appears to clean them up fairly well, but of course there is always the one that pops out and you have to start all over again!!!

2hrs in, probably half the windows done. But when I say Windows I don't mean droplights. So about 5hrs to go!

I think flush glazing is over rated. 20190211_093121.jpg.08baa75ff3bc459c7593ab7f86ce370f.jpg

Looks like the passengers have no option but to agree you as they can't say anything else as they don't have a leg to stand one!!

Despite the bad jokes, the hours of window installing has continued. I've found White spirit to be ideal to remove any of the glue after install, but also great at removing the paint from the drop lights.

I'm about there, they need a little more cleaning and then I can touch the paint up. The gap is pretty spot on and they run fine like this.

8721 arrived with the midday passenger and deposits the fish van to the dock ready for the morning.

I tried a few shots with my SLR on the tripod, then cropped, sharpened etc. But out of quite a few, this was the only one I really liked. I've great respect for lots of the pictures that are taken and posted on this forum, shows great skills in both photography and model making..

Right, better paint the roofs of the B set, they won't paint themselves.

The B set has gone really well.. The flush glazing was still a swine, there is no way of getting away from that. You need to clean up each one, test fit, adjust again, test fit again, then you can finally glue it. I managed the clean up a lot of the glue and glaze with white spirit and a cotton bud, the really stubborn parts I used a cocktail stick to remove it.

I've also sprayed the underframes with some matt black, you can't really see it in the picture, but this really helps remove the plastic look and feel of them. I repainted the roofs, they had been painted black previously, I wanted them to be white and then I can dirty them up after some practice on a few test wagons.

And the close coupling is just great!

I've been working on a few crates to start dressing up the goods yard and the loading dock a little more. These were some resin ones I'd picked up and have come out quite well I think..

The other boxes on the truck and the crane are Scale Model Scenery, which are really nice.

Really good day with the Swindon and Cricklade for one of their Steam Taster sessions. There were 4 of us for the 2hr session, so we went in two groups of 2 on the footplate of the andrew barclay loco. The driver directs you on what to do, as it's 5mph through the points and station and then 25mph on the line. There is also a farm crossing that's blind that they stopped at to check it was clear and the end of the line is just dirt! They are building further, so the track just stops at the moment and I guess will be like that for a while.

She's a really bouncy little loco, you get knocked about on the footplate at any speed. Great fun though, to be honest it was just as good being on the footplate as driving, just to be in the cab of a moving steam engine was amazing.

It's a small little line, but certainly worth a half day there with the family.

I now think I want to get a model one (in green) for the layout!

Things never go to plan... I've not bought a barclay, I did buy a Hornby Huntley and Palmer Peckett instead. But that's now on the bench to have a chip added, Hornby make a small chip, but you can't buy them!

Well, I got distracted. I've been building railways in the garden instead. But having seen the cracking little changes made to Kevin's Collet, time to spruce up my one.

It's too shinny and that coal in the back is horrid.
