I've just seen "Jintystein" in the title so, here's mine, based on a  narrow gauge WD 2-6-0 usiing a badly damaged Tri-ang, Davy Crocket loco body and old Jinty chassis. Since sold on in the earlier cull but fondly remembered.

This thread makes me think about the WMR tank engines.I would have an 0-6-0T, an 0-4-4T, an 0-6-2T and an 0-8-0T.

An 0-6-0T for shunting and branchline traffic, an 0-4-4T for local suburban passenger, an 0-6-2T for mixed-traffic duties and local branchline traffic and an 0-8-0T for heavy shunting and coal trains. Of course, I would have to find some locos to work with.

I have an 0-4-4 and 0-6-2 made from old R1 bodies. Similar can probably be made from jinties or J83s depending on your railway's location

Just found this for sale on Ebay. Nice touch to get something different out of a H/D N2.

I saw that too it doesn't really match any Caley loco but does bear a very strong resemblance to one of the Highland Railway 0-6-4 banking tanks so would look much better in HR green or even early LMS red.

noted that the lettering and the number plate were wonky. My eyesight is c...p corrected  the errors so it might look better now. also a coat of matt varnish helped.

Another idear is using the N2 body / chassis as it and with a few subtle changes like the chimney and safety valves it could become a very passable G&SWR class 45 0-6-2 tank.

 Here's a Hornby Doublo N2 and a G&SWR class 45 0-6-2 tank what do you think.

As much as I'd love to use a Hornby Doublo N2 for the Sou western class 45 I fear there is to much remedial work needed, little jobs like shortening the smoke box door straps or changing boiler fittings that the cast body of the Triang model could prove a bit of a challenge so think the common sense answer would be to use a Mainline N2 where the plastic body would be more receptive to adjustments and changes.

I'm not saying the Doublo one is not doable and I'd still love to have a crack at it as I love the feel and weight if these older Triang models but the mainline version would be much easier option.

Anyone want to stretch Nellie into one of these?

You may jest and it might take maybe two or three bodies but I bet it could be done though no doubt there's easier options

There was no jest in my comment. I can see a definite resemblance between that loco and our humble Nellie. It would make an impressive bash for sure
