Another update! It's not that I work quickly, but this bash is pretty easy thankfully

Buffers, handrails, and a chimney cap are all on order and should be with me in the next few days. My grey primer spray has been stolen by the fairies so I'll have to go and get some more, as well as more PVA glue. Major changes will be taking place on my layout very soon!

Even if it is a passenger loco, I was saying it might also make a good industrial.  Love both of those beautiful engines.  True works of art!

It might end up doing a bit of shunting in the yard at quiet periods of running. Be a shame to have it hiding in a fiddle yard

I can attest to that from experience.

I wish the same could be said of the stuff they make J72's out of. The last time I did it took amix of plastic magic and superglue. Recovery took five days!

My Mainline J72 took ages to glue together after I chopped it up

Can't remember if I have posted it here before, but my here is my take on the GER C53/LNER J70 based around the Caley Pug chassis. 3D printed body sold through Shapeways*, fits upon a cut down Caley Pug chassis. Still need to do a lot and detail it up, but priced against a RTR one I can have a fleet of four for the price of a ready made one.

Here's aome updates on my SECR tank locomotive for the portable micro layout.

IMG_20210304_204934_01.jpg

The side-tanks have been cut off and some pparts need filling in. I tried using plasticard but it was rather fiddly. The original whistle has been taken off and made into a safety valve. The running board has been cut-about and levelled off. The windows have been filled in with Milliput. I thought about cutting the bunker down but ultimately left it as is.

Once the other bits are acquired, they wil also be added. Keep watching for more!

Hasn't technically been a loco I've seen at where I work, but it is one that was once found at my workplace. Hornby 0-4-0 diesel was a bargain buy (they have potential, honestly!) so lets see what a new cab and detailing can do for it.

Tried to angle the cab CAD design over the body shell as closely as possible, think it shows how the model will look in a few weeks time. Now got to wait on a package arriving from Shapeways.

Time flies!

I had a jar of Tamiya bronze paint, a sort of metallic brown, which I'd decided to use for the fat pipes. But when the time came I found that it was dried up, so I prevaricated for a bit, then ordered another online.

The painting is mostly finished now, although there's still some touching up to be done before I apply the lining transfers. I need to decide whether or not boiler bands are called for.

I gave the driver a bowler hat. I'm not best pleased with it, but I think it'll be OK with some paint on.

Everything has arrived to continue with the Q1 so I slapped a bit of paint on

Don't get too used to the grey though, as due to limited finances an SECR birdcage set is out of the question. Instead a light olive green is going on as befits a loco serviced at Ashford, plus coaching stock is far more affordable!

Found it! Whitehaven, Cleator and Egremont Railway No.6, later Furness Railway No. 102.

Oh yes. I love the feeling of that first coat of primer when it all starts to become one item!

That looks interesting! It makes a nice private owner locomotive!

What a difference some lining makes!

I even bothered to paint the wheels. Might rob the handrails off the other Q1 as a temporary fix. I also need to get some vacuum pipes for both ends and some thin black strips for the boiler bands

That looks amazing! Does it run well compared to Hornby's official H Class model?
