Unfortunately, the layout Coburg was not at the show and neither was Titfield Thunderbolt, however a display on Nailsea and Backwell Station in the 1930s including a OO gauge diorama that wasn't previously advertised as attending was there.

Also, there was a slight error in the demonstration listings; Dave Barrett didn't have his display of 4mm scale model buildings as advertised, but this was because he was with his layout Nottingham Goods which was also advertised under the Layouts Attending heading.

It all starts again tomorrow at 10:00am for those that couldn't make it today.

I also wandered along today and wa s very happy - pity there was no Titfield in attendance though - I was very taken with Lydgate which although it has been on the local circuit I had not seen before - very nicely done representation of the Forest.I've attached a selection of my photos...

So it was you!

Sorry I didn't say hello, but having only met you once at Weston, I wasn't sure.

No bother Andy, I thought I saw you but was difficult to see form behind the layout, I am not used to rear operated layouts these days.

An good show in a very nice modern venue with good access for unloading and loading. We had a great weekend with Banbury.

Although as an 'oldie' I enjoyed watching Lydford and Folkestone Junc; I was surprised at my enthusiasm for Banbury. I think it was because I could easily relate to the modern era. I was rather disappointed when 3x5-car Voyagers passed through the station; when although that might be the fantasy on most routes, what actually turns up is one rammed 4-car unit.

I was encouraged to see a young schoolgirl videoing the layout on Sunday morning. Hope for the future there maybe?

[ I'm afraid that I wandered around the school venue in a daze, as because on my walk there (I only live 800yds away) I had a phone call to say my brother-in-law (the one with motor neurone disease) had passed away overnight. ]

The 15 car Voyager was the diverted Virgin services during the West Coast blockade. They generally didn't stop at Banbury so you would have still had to catch a rammed 4 car unit!

Sorry about your brother. Never an easy time.

Thanks.

Actually, I found the complete detachment of model railways to be quite comforting in the circumstances.
