Thanks Ken. That sounds like a lot of work even for an accomplished modeller and still with plenty of compromises. My fleet feels deficient without one of the ex South Wales 3718x/3719x steam heated locos and I keep pondering how I might get one. If it is to come from the Bachmann stable I will have to master an acceptable way to add the cantrail grill dividing bars to one of the recent models. That said, your experience probably confirmed my approach which will be to sit tight for the time being and hope that Accurascale produce an centre headcode RSH model!

Some pictures of your work on 37183 will still be of interest though.

Here you go, the body/buffers are only temp on the chassis, any other questions let me know

Personally, I'd wait for an Accurascale RSH Centre box 37, they will come eventually, and it would save you a pile of work, yet still be left with a compromised model.

Merry Xmas

Ken

Converted from a Bach BR Blue 47 035  - faded and weathered 47 145 Merddin Emrys" as it was at Tinsley in the early 90's.  My first proper attempt at weathering, was a lot of work but I'm pretty happy with the results. New working HI headlights and ship/shore cab aerials added.
