Yes, I made that mistake, to the amusement of all present. though you can have fun, if they don’t know that you do know. For example, it would be very polite, in English, when meeting someone to “introduce oneself”. In French, it translates as “insert oneself”, which might be a bit forward for a first meeting... returning to the matter in hand, if I might say sir, your cylinders are magnificent. Perhaps just a little higher? atb Simon

Popular Post KNP
Well it certainly looks better in Vallejo black grey. I did have had a look at moving the cylinders up a couple of mm but this would mean dismantling a couple of support brackets, adjusting the vernier rodding, air pump alignment and reducing the sides of the spacer to clear the main frame. So I think I might leave for now.....! 12

Popular Post KNP
The more I look at those cylinders, the more I got annoyed with them so yesterday I bit the bullet. Dismantling part of what I had already done I adjusted the cylinder spacer by filing a groove into, added 1.5mm of plastic spacer under it and fixed back onto the main metal frame. Then adjusted the running gear and.... that's it no more, it is finished once I complete a bit more weathering and tidying up the knocked paintwork. PS - I have noticed the front main wheel seems to have moved out of alignment - so not quite finished!! Edited December 14, 2019 by KNP 15
Mulgabill
I'm always slow to express doubts. But felt initially that the cylinders looked overly big, to my eye. However your mods now make it all leook mighty fine. The cylinders etc were always the biggest downside to the Hornby (triang?) model. But I was mighty pleased to have one from the first batch when they came out originally. Well done Kevin. TONY 1 1

RMweb Gold Bazza Posted December 14, 2019 RMweb Gold Share Posted December 14, 2019 Hi, might just be the angle of the photo but are the new cylinders inclined outwards enough They look more like Castle cylinder positioning to me. You have certainly made a silk purse from a show's ear with this loco. Bazza 1
RMweb Gold Harlequin Posted December 14, 2019 RMweb Gold Share Posted December 14, 2019 (edited) Sorry but the cylinders don’t look right to me. They are surely the outside cylinder pattern used by all the 4 cylinder classes, aren’t they? Here’s a photo of the right hand side of a Hall in good light: No curve inwards under the running plate. Castle (converted from Star): Curve in under running plate. Edited December 14, 2019 by Harlequin 3

Perhaps they just need tweaking so that they taper out a little more. Edited December 14, 2019 by St Enodoc Why didn't the spellchecker tell me that cylinder is spelled with a C not an S?
RMweb Premium Neal Ball Posted December 14, 2019 RMweb Premium Share Posted December 14, 2019 Good luck Kevin! Have you consulted the various loco bibles to see exactly how they should sit? Alternatively perhaps the loco hides behind a bush of two when shown on screen! All the best, Neal.

Popular Post KNP
A Walk in the Countryside The sun is shining, a little bit fresh but I thought I would still take that stroll. So I set off from Little Muddle, about mid morning and caught the railcar to Encombe Town with a view to walk back home through the countryside. Getting off at the station I passed the Major (not sure what train he catches as the appears to...well...just stand and wait) and had a quick chat. I head up the stairs, out of the station and onto the High Street, just past the station when heading towards the town centre is a pathway that leads between some shops. This leads out into the fields, so taking that I crossed the potato field and ended up by a derelict barn. Looking across at the barn I thought what a waste why doesn't someone do something with it! Heading off down the lane I came to a gate leading to what looked like a creamery or dairy I can hear people talking!! So, crossing over I walked along another track and past a group of workmen in animated conversion about something or other, not sure what but I did hear the word crate mentioned. Ensuring I did not break stride, as I didn't want to get involved, I headed on. Looking back with a quick glance to see what if anything had been resolved? Nope! still chatting! Once across the field I continued down the track until I came to gate by a farm I leaned on the fence not sure I could go through or not Then a voice from the upstairs window called out and told me it was alright to enter.... Following the shouted advice I entered and closed the gate behind me. I then headed over to the another gate that appeared to lead down towards a drive and seemed in the right direction? Crossing the bridge I glanced to my left and saw some people fishing in the stream. Not wanting to interrupt them as they seemed in deep concentration on trying to catch some fish, I leant on the railings and had a good look around. I do believe that is Overbrook Viaduct, I have crossed many times by train but never seen it from this angle...... After a short rest I walked on to a 'T' junction I looked in both directions but realised that to the left lead down under the viaduct in the direction of home. That's the way to go, past that friendly looking tramp?? Appears to be getting darker and a bit cooler now. Also feels like rain as well so I better hurry as it appears I left my umbrella on the platform! Stopping for a quick chat with the tramp sitting on the grass verge I looked up and saw a derelict house poking above the hedge I wonder how long this has been like this, I thought. Another building needing renovation. Now much darker, is that a spot I rain I feel?? To late, heavens have just opened so time for a quick dash to shelter under the viaduct. Just need to wait under here until it stops...….. Wish I had my umbrella???? 26
