Ummm ... and you are? Oh I remember you're the chap whose built this Little Muddle whatsit, well could you submit your request for an exemption to the committee and we will rule upon its merits at the meeting next June. We're far too busy critiquing to entertain these requests which come without regard to the due process ........... :rtfm:        ;)

Here's a chance for somebody to demonstrate their superior knowledge. What on Earth is a NCU and what is its purpose?

Armed with my GWR goods wagon book now I know....

It is the Not Common User plate carried on goods wagons signifying that these where for use by the GWR and no one else.

From what I can glean this applied to most of the vacuum fitted ones only.

I think (if I remember rightly) it was all vac fitted stock and any "specialist" vehicles, e.g. cattle wagons, bolsters, pollens etc that were non-pool vehicles.

Me too and there seems to be a shortage of GWR open wagon kits, judging by the bidding wars on Flea bay.

Even the still in production Ratio and Parkside kits?

You could always start purchasing Cambrian/Parkside LMS and LNER opens. :)

I have a few of those by Ratio and Parkside, but they both represent a similar wagon. If you want a bit of variation by adding earlier wagons, flats, three and four plank versions, or long wheelbase wagons, you have to go hunting amongst the secondhand market.
