The 20th of September 1938 was a Tuesday... :smile_mini:

The "Suite for jazz orchestra No. 1" by Dmitri Shostakovich, was premiered on this day, 1938. (To pick a fact not related to the rumblings of War in Europe.)

Right now there's a rather heated discussion going on in the signal box -

Signalman: "I distinctly told you to not to send it to Little Muddle, it's the up express!!!!"

Assistant Signalman: "No you didn't"

Signalman: "Yes I did!!!"

Assistant Signalman: "No you didn't"

Signalman: "Yes I bloody did!!!!"

Assistant Signalman: "No you didn't"

Signalman: "This isn't an audition for the station Christmas pantomime!!!"

Assistant Signalman: "Are we going to have a station Christmas pantomime?

Carries on ad infinitum ..........

Currently in Southsea for a few days and even the navy delayed the sailing so they could wave to us!!!

This picture was taken by the wife as I was clicking and clacking on my camera but I had to stop just to appreciate the sheer size of this ship, it’s massive.

You don’t see that through the lens of the camera!

Off to the navy base tomorrow where POW is still alongside....I wonder how close you can get?

To get a real feeling of the size of the ship as it sails past, there is a cafe built into the fortified walls at the mouth of the harbour which has a terrace overhanging the water. Great viewpoint (and nice food and drink).

To many people about so we stood on Spur Redoubt where it jutted out.

Quiet and nicely social distanced plus the sun was a problem because it was putting the carrier into shade.

I had a word but they couldn’t move the sun!!!!

Commander in Chief Portsmouth Admiral Sir Eustace Bell-Bottom Trouser "Lieutenant Queasy !!!!!! Where are you, Come here !!!!!!"

Lieutenant Queasy: "Reporting sir!!!!!!!"

Commander in Chief Portsmouth Admiral Sir Eustace Bell-Bottom Trouser: "Queasy what's this nonsense !!!!! I've just had a text from someone called Kevin who claims to live in Little Muddle, asking me to have the Prince of Wales moved to a better spot so he can take a more artistically composed photo"

Lieutenant Queasy: "Sir?"

Commander in Chief Portsmouth Admiral Sir Eustace Bell-Bottom Trouser: "Well what, dammit man, are you going to do about it !!!!!!!"

Lieutenant Queasy: "Signal Prince of Wales to launch an immediate airstrike on him?"

Commander in Chief Portsmouth Admiral Sir Eustace Bell-Bottom Trouser: "Exactly my wishes Queasy; you'll make captain very quickly if you keep that attitude !!!"

And the rest is written in the annals of the Royal Navy ...........
