This was the first attempt at the bauxite colour which for simplicity I just used Vallejo Beige Brown. Though OK it was a bit bland to my liking with no planking detail. So we went back to paint shop and using a hint of Vallejo Sky Grey weathered the planks a bit by a mixture of dry brushing and washes. To my eye this gave a bit more relief to the sides As you might recall I ordered the wrong fish van as I brought a 1941 version but thanks to help from Paul (Worsdell forever) who sent me some details from his book on LMS wagons I was able alter this an earlier version by the addition of end vents, not strictly correct but near enough for me. The only thing missing for me is the word Fish on the side but I don't have any and not quite sure where it would go, my gut feeling is that it would be above the LMS in small font, going to leave for now. One odd thing that was highlighted with these two models where the transfers, so here is a little moan. These are Parkside Models by Peco and are sold as LMS versions with transfers included, then why then are the transfers for the BR (ex LMS) version! I can see no mention of this on the packaging and had assumed they would be be for the LMS model, surely these kits should be sold as a BR (ex LMS) model or at least some mention that the transfers are for another era. Makes the subject not only larger but a more realistic view point. Picture seems to be slightly out of focus on the left side....odd. I also need to make sure it is on the base better!!! Here is a short cattle train running behind the Collett Goods, why that loco....well it was the only loco on the track at the time as the rest where in the storage box. I think that should suffice for now on the cattle wagon front, perhaps a few more GWR brown wagons, perhaps? LMS one makes a nice addition, a few more out of region ones needed.....another day. My sister had one that was about twice as old as she was and used it for carrying her belongings to and from work on her motorcycle. She collected a refurbished carburettor for her fiance one evening and set off home. The cord on the duffel bag snapped and the bag shot down the road. That was the end of it, but importantly, the carburettor was fine. The grass is isolated clumps of Noch grass matting with static grass in between, sometimes a second layer to give additional depth. Then scatter material is either rub into the static grass (when dry) to go to the base to form another shade, or built up to form ground cover weeds or finally area over sprayed with hair spray and grass scatter sprinkled on....the trick is to get a mixture of grass appearances so it doesn't look like a mat, do not just use one material unless of course you are doing a bowling green....
