Went ‘Up North’ yesterday to visit our friends and whilst there Andrew said he had some OO items.

Well, one couldn’t say no could one so I had to have a look and in his box of loco’s he had 6697.

This is a very old Mainline Railways 56xx which was released in 1983 but can still hold it’s own against newer models.

A few issues to sort, lamp irons, needs a shirt button motif and converting to DCC.

He kindly let me have this on permanent loan fully understanding it won’t look like this is a few weeks time.

A really unusual loco for LM as they mainly lived in the Welsh Valleys but some did venture down to Bristol and Swindon so with a slight minimal twisting rule 1 could apply….

I bought a brand new 56XX from Bradford Model Centre in Manchester.
It's still running fine with it's pancake motor.
I thought Mainline nailed the unique balance weights on this loco. The revamped chassis ones don't look as good in that department.
Chris.
