Don't think I'll go out today.....!

Rain, sleet, snow, fog, mist, sun flare and a rainbow

An odd but serious question, prompted by Kevin's latest picture. In fog, steam crews could hang a bucket on the signal arm so they could hear when it pulled off. How did railcar crews manage? Would they have had a bucket in a cab?

If they dropped the cab window they could probably hear the signal above the noise of the diesel on tick-over.

I think it was mostly goods train crews that put the bucket on the arm as they could be held in a loop or refuge for sometime, passenger trains were not held for too long at a signal, unless there was a problem.

Moving onto the next stage of the Unicorn building works and that is the external wall coverings.

I could not make my mind up which paper to use by just looking at the computer so did what is really easy for this type of build and that was print off 4 of my favourites to see which looked the best on the model.

These are the four...

There are many others but these I all ready have saved as PDF files that I can print them off to my hearts delight.....

Decision made, now to fix prior to adding the render.....

More to follow as works proceed, but at a slow pace at the moment due to other commitments.

I overheard this conversation from the trio in the bottom left hand corner -

Him "Bloody typical of these developer blokes. Those buildings were there for a 'undred year and the greedy landlord decided to pull 'em down"

Her (blue hat) "Bert stop moanin' I 'ear he's going to put up a pub"

Him "A pub?, well oi might have been a bit 'asty then. But mark moi words he'll charge over the odds for a 'alf to pay for building the thing"

Her (in grey hat) "Oh get along wi' yer Bert! the proice you charge for this fish you sell, you should be the last to complain about overcharging"

Him "Oi watchit, Oi've got this expensive delivery boik to maintain. Yer think air for the tires grows on trees!"

Clouds! Looks more like a sea fret, rolling up the river from the harbour!

I'd just like to know how the squadron leader managed to take off with the cloud cover being that low.

I take it that you're using artist's varnish to stop the colours fading?

It's all looking rather good by the way.

Yes, don't use any other type now. Matt UV varnish.

There are others but I find this flows the best even on rolling stock and can be tinted with acrylic paints.

Can it be airbrushed or do you brush it on?
