shortliner
I want to know more about that loco (SW1?) TBH I know no more though, I believe the photo may have appeared in RMC. Not sure why, but I thought that SW1 only had a single pipe exhaust EDIT - AFAIK that is an SW9 or 1200 with headlight packages that indicate it belonged to Southern Pacific (but I'm probably wrong!) EDIT - Photos are probably by Harry Wong - a really nice Guy - and may well be available through RMC for whom I believe he does photographic work - It may well be worth you looking at Last years photos (and earlier years !) on this link http://www.bayareaprototypemodelers.org/photos/ You do not need to be on Facebook to see these. Hope it helps FWIW This is not a train show as we (in UK) know it - with lots of model railroads on display, as you will see if you follow the links - there are multiple tables with modellers showing off their work, mainly to other modellers, though the public is very welcome. I usually try to post links to some of the excellent work on display, after the show has taken place, to provide inspiration to modellers "doing" American, on this forum
Talltim
I prefer 'private' shows to public ones, that's ones of the reasons I like the Freemo meets so much. I do find stuff running and in context more interesting than sitting on a table tho
Prof Klyzlr
Dear Tim, The details tell the story: - The highrise signal lights strongly suggest SP - the mid-hood number boards suggest an early SW, say an SW9/SW900?(these were removed later on in the SW900's life)- the angled end handrails concur with an early SW900 References: - http://espee.railfan.net/spsw900.html - http://www.railgoat.railfan.net/sp_sw900/ - http://www.railgoat.railfan.net/sp_sw900/grip.htm - http://www.ssloan.net/trains/sp/1103.html Happy Modelling,Aim to Improve,Prof Klyzlr
Glorious NSE
Concur with the SP, but it won't be an SW900, those only have the one exhaust and the model has two. That points to it being an SW7 / SW9 / SW1200. http://espee.railfan.net/spsw1200.html http://www.railgoat.railfan.net/sp_sw7_9_1200/index.htm
CraigZ
SW1 had single exhaust as it had only a V6 567 engine; NW2, SW9/1200 were V12s. Here's a look at the innards of a Metra SW1...
