'Strictly Bulleid Weekend'

There were certainly plenty of people around on the Friday.  As always I was reminded that the likes of Maurice Earley gave up altogether when this sort of rugby scrum became the norm every time a steam locomotive appeared!  I also wondered how many of the army of photographers along the line actually paid to travel during the day, or were offered the opportunity to make a contribution to the costs of this event, which must have been considerable.

I only took along my small Panasonic camera for few "snapshots" but, on the positive side, the weather was a delight.  Looking through my pictures I realised that most were of 80146 and Manston, which could have been seen on any normal operating day!!!!  A few results are below.

Also, as far as the Swanage Railway was concerned, the trains seemed packed to capacity and on occasions beyond.  The first train from Swanage was standing room only at Corfe by the time it returned from River Frome/Norden.  So we changed our plans and rode up to River Frome first from the other platform!

Well it certainly was a good weekend for Swanrail. The trains I saw running yesterday afternoon were all packed full. I was told that after accounting for all overheads including hiring, and running costs, they broke even by mid Saturday morning - the rest of the weekend was just all profit.

As Paul said above, not easy to get photos due to the sheer volume of people on platforms...

The fields along the line were quite busy too!
