brossard
Much confusion over this Tender. My parcel escaped so I'll see what colour it actually is when it gets here. I'm not averse to repainting if necessary (Although Hatton's did say I could return it - they've been very good BTW). I'll need to add the through vacuum piping and hoses. In the photos the handrails look ropey (Plastic wire?) so they may need replacing. John

Product Code Description MRP 7F-200-001 B951771 Grey CAO £79.95 7F-200-002 B952182 Grey £79.95 7F-200-003 B953095 Grey £79.95 7F-200-004 B951224 Bauxite CAP £79.95 7F-200-005 B952042 Bauxite £79.95 7F-200-006 B952978 Bauxite £79.95 7F-200-007 Unnumbered Grey £79.95 7F-200-008 Unnumbered Bauxite £79.95 I'm only interested in early BR so fear none of the above would be suitable, unless someone with more knowledge than i knows better. brossard
Curious about what you mean by "early BR". I'm no expert, but I should think they were all the same design. These were introduced in 1950? The ex LNER 20T brake looks very similar, is that what mean? Slaters have a quite good kit. John
hmrspaul
Be careful when ordering. I ordered 7F-200-005 (bauxite) based on the notification email and discovered just too late that the stock number is, in fact, grey. I called Hattons who said they'd try to stop the parcel but it's in the van already. John Richard Webster has confirmed "The barcode labels on the boxes are correct - 7F-200-005 grey and 7F-200-003 bauxite, unfortunately it appears they are reversed on the pre-order forms" Paul

(Early BR) Wagon number, XP etc. (Later BR) The same with additional information all surrounded by white line boxes. Later with additional black boxes etc.
Greenmodelmonkey
Why wouldn't it be true, its a direct quote from an email. Paul Not had an email sorry but going to check my order tomorrow from my supplier before parting with my money.
hmrspaul
Not had an email sorry but going to check my order tomorrow from my supplier before parting with my money. Email From Richard Webster. I asked him - as I provided photos of four of the prototypes and this is confusing people on more than one forum. He said he would sort it next week. (Early BR) Wagon number, XP etc. (Later BR) The same with additional information all surrounded by white line boxes. Later with additional black boxes etc. Totally agree, that is why I linked earlier to the four I believe will largely appear as my photos, To repeat Photographs of some of the prototypes: B953095 http://PaulBartlett.zenfolio.com/brbrakevan504/e17154e Grey B951224 http://PaulBartlett.zenfolio.com/brbrakevan504/e1331ed9a Bauxite B952978 http://PaulBartlett.zenfolio.com/brbrakevan504/ef06252b Bauxite B951771 http://PaulBartlett.zenfolio.com/brbrakevan506/e2e9fd5ff Grey But I'm just as uncertain as which to choose as I want a pre 1963 (Boxed in writing) one. The one I've seen briefly B951224- purchased by a friend at Swansea - has pre 1963 lettering except for the TOPS code, black maintenance panel and empty square faithfully copying this time confused finish of the prototype (which is from 1980). Judicious use of a fibreglass pen might get rid of the code, maintenance panel and box to back date it. They are doing unwritted examples in both red and grey. CUTLER2579
Got to say guys, thanks for getting involved. I thought I was becoming even more senile, but when even "hmrspaul" is struggling it makes me feel a whole lot better. Were I to be writing my opening posting on this subject today, the phase I used about simple would not have appeared. If none of these are going to be representative of the 1951 - 1962 period ,it seems to me like a shot in the foot from Dapol as I good slice of the "O" gauge market model that period. I guess the two un-numbered Vans are the most appropriate for me though so all is not lost and Mr Fox of Leicestershire is smiling broadly, I suspect. Owd Bob
My pre-ordered one surprisingly arrived this morning from Tower Models, i'm well chuffed with it but it is only my third ever '0' gauge wagon and i don't envisage buying many more. Warning! Be careful when removing these two foam bits as there are very fragile hand rails hidden underneath it. 56038
Mine arrived yesterday; looks good (suspect better when weathered!) but handrails a bit flimsy compared to my Slaters model where they are brass. See how they survive, but meantime have locked the veranda safety bars in place with a tiny dab of superglue to stop them flapping about. Overall though, good addition to my stock. delticfan
Not too happy here got an email from Hattons saying my bauxite one had been picked which is the colour I ordered a few months back, now I find out a grey one has been posted.
Greenmodelmonkey
Everywhere seems to be advertising this as 'Bauxite' including the Dapol catalogue, maybe its the notification email that's wrong? Not had an email sorry but going to check my order tomorrow from my supplier before parting with my money.Just opened my correct colour van only to find one I the buffers is missing! Shame as the rest of the van has travelled half way around the world before anyone noticed.... A simple quality drop off which should have been captured at source. Now got to spend time and effort sorting myself.... Again!!

delticfan
A very simple question for some of you I hope. From the list below which would be most suitable for the 1958 - 1962 Steam period. Dapol List. Product Code Description MRP 7F-200-001 B951771 Grey CAO £79.95 7F-200-002 B952182 Grey £79.95 7F-200-003 B953095 Grey £79.95 7F-200-004 B951224 Bauxite CAP £79.95 7F-200-005 B952042 Bauxite £79.95 7F-200-006 B952978 Bauxite £79.95 7F-200-007 Unnumbered Grey £79.95 7F-200-008 Unnumbered Bauxite £79.95 Thanking you in anticipation. Just found this old post to prove I wasn’t going mad when I ordered 7F 200 005 as Bauxite.
neal
Having looked at these on line and in my local store, all bar one of the numbered versions carry maintenance record dates in the 70’s. The exception is 7F - 200 - 002 which also does not have OHLE warnings. This would be the earliest one suitable (as far as I can see) for the late steam era. I indulged in this model. As with the Dapol vans, the roof unclips which would allow detailing or weight being added (this is not a heavy wagon). The model rolls freely, and with compensation beam plus loose fit between axle pinpoint ends and boxes rides pointwork well. It does however need some detail to give it character. The addition of lamps, interior detail, guard are all jobs now on my to-do list. Pretty good in my view. Neal
madgasters
Has anyone got any photos of the grey one yet? The ones on Hatton/ Rails look a very greeny grey but I don't know if they are bad photos.

Appears fairly faithful for 1975 https://PaulBartlett.zenfolio.com/brbrakevan504/e17154e when it looks like BR may have rewritten the number etc old style.
