RMweb Premium Gary H Posted March 29, 2020 RMweb Premium Share Posted March 29, 2020 (edited) Where can I get Class 50 0 gauge nameplates from guys? Brian/Shawplan seem impossible to get hold of (email or phone) - plus, don't fancy a trip halfway across the country to an exibition for a tenners worth of nameplates if I'm honest and that'll be in 2021 anyway! Fox seem to be out of stock on 90% of them. Edited March 30, 2020 by Gary H

I did notice he had some for 009 a few weeks ago, should have bought them then but kept putting it off. Probably more chance there than anywhere else at the moment, so fingers crossed. Roadrails
Sadly, when splashong such cash one would like it in the right livery. Not sure why they made so many in less large logo liveries- I just refuse to pay and respray. Perhaps a 2nd batch LL Blue sometime?

A collection of artwork on hard disk(s) somewhere is a lot cheaper than holding huge amounts of stock. I have not seen them at an exhibition for some time so I assume they simply don't do them any more. Their mail order way of working is much better suited to a 'make to order' process. LL seemed to sell out quite quickly. I believe NSE revised light blue was technically non-standard but it was applied to quite a lot of the class & seems to have been ignored or skipped by RTR manufacturers until now. Not sure if you’re meaning O gauge rtr manufacturers or all scales, but Hornby definitely did 50027 Lion in Revised light Blue.

I don't know why you believe that NSE revised light blue was non-standard. Every NSE repaint from August 1987 (50050) until August 1989 (50045, first dark blue) was revised NSE light blue. Until the wear of the original colour was deemed unsatisfactory the use of a darker blue hadn't even been contemplated. 1
47606odin
Well.... What Heljan said.... what the ESU connections are using the NRMA colours Note the common positive for the lights is blue, and the colours go yo the aux outputs as you switch the -ve on and off to complete the circuits. Heljan however have used the coloured wire for the +ve and the blue wire for the -ve. took me 2 days to work out they are backwards and diodes don’t work backwards

Flood
So after initially trying to order a Heljan 50 from the first batch and my stockist not being able to be supplied I recently decided to buy myself a present from the proceeds of 1. my Mum's old 009 layout, passed to me by my Dad as my Mum is now in a care home, and 2. some OO stock I knew I would never need. Below is my very nice, and very large, present which I named and numbered last week; along with the 43 year old reason for buying an O gauge model of a 50 in the first place. This morning was to be spent solely fitting the cab to shore phones into the cabs but great fun was then had detail painting the rest of the drivers desks whilst in situ on the loco. Certainly an improvement, although once the body is back on you can barely see it at all. Sound should follow in about a month once my bank account has recovered from Christmas. I hope all you other lucky owners appreciate your model O gauge 50 as much as I do mine. Edited April 3, 2022 by Flood

How lovely to read of the joy this model has given you (and how terrific to have a real class 50 nameplate too). Long may it continue to do so. 2
