mossdp
Can anyone identify these etched brass panelled coaches - both prototype and who made the models please? Must be pregrouping. One model has a crest on it, but I cannot identify it. They are quite short with the bogies well inboard of the ends. Possibly plastic roof. White metal bogies. No manufacturers name on them in any visible place. Three different vehicles
Darryl Tooley
These are North Eastern Railway carriages. It just so happens that they are the same three designs dealt with on pp112/3 of Historic Carriage Drawings Volume One: LNER and Constituents by Nick Campling (Pendragon, 1997). mossdp
Thank you very much for that positive identification. I thought someone would be able to help. I have not seen a model of these type of vehicles before.
stevejjjexcov
They are probably D&S coaches. Danny was the go to man for N.E.R. coaching stock. They do come up for sale on line occasionally but cost a fortune. All the transfers you need to finish them are available from hrms presfix. The brake is possibly DIA 124 built 1907. Hope this helps. All the best Steve P.S. It looks as though the bogies have been fitted to far inboard when they were made as the long footboard looks short
mossdp
So possibly D&S kits - many thanks. They do look rather unusual with the bogies so inwards. I will have to see if I can find the book mentioned to see if the bogies are in the wrong positions.
jwealleans
If you send Dan a picture he might well identify them for you. That said, all the brass kits of his I've ever built have the D & S name, logo and an identifying number very prominently underneath.
stevejjjexcov
Hi North Eastern Record vol 2 will be a help as well if you can get a copy. All the best Steve Just looked a the pics again. The coaches appear to have square windows could they be Midland suburban stock? If they are then I have no idea who produced them.
mossdp
Windows have square corners. The crests that are on one of them are round and could be NER ones though. There is no name underneath
