628 goes to pieces after hitting a rock and bending its frame.

It's quite a funny write-up really, the loco telling its own story, including how it "donated its organs" to its brothers and sisters!

The 2019/20 passenger timetables are now visible here if you search for locations:
https://www.fahrplanfelder.ch/de/willkommen.html

First glance doesn't look much different to 2018/19.
* No sign of any Capricorn-inspired timetable changes this year (though that's probably not too surprising.)
* Davos-Filisur 'heritage' turns are still there.
* This years Chur-Ilanz summer Sunday tourist diagram now runs summer Sat/Sun/Public holidays.

Graphic timetables are not up yet.

The RhB and MGB are on TV tonight (Fri 29/11), Channel 5 8pm, "The World's Most Scenic Railway Journeys", TIrano to the Matterhorn

Hmmm, top tip:

If you're going to use lots of footage of East and Southbound trains, don't then go and film folk travelling on Northbound and Westbound trains so you have to keep running the stock footage backwards... :D

Still, well worth the watch and some fascinating insights. :good_mini:

RhB update:

The Federal Council and the canton of Graubünden decided today to take further measures to contain the corona virus. The Federal Office of Public Health (BAG) has issued, among other things, orders for public transport in Switzerland. Regular public transport continues to operate according to the timetable. The tourist traffic, extra trips and historical trips are stopped. Group trips are canceled. Dining cars and catering services are also prohibited on the trains. In implementation of these instructions, the Rhaetian Railway (RhB) will stop operating the Bernina Express on Saturday, March 14, 2020. Charter and adventure trips will also be canceled. From then on, the Glacier Express also stops operating. These measures are expected to apply until April 26, 2020. The freight transport of the Bündner Güterbahn is not affected by these measures.

Lovely. I like the full train of goods vans, and the FO locos on the Landwasser viaduct.

It’s well worth £15-20 as the pics are high quality and lots of them. :)

New Rangierloks

So G = NG loco, so not a tractor as such?
e = electric loco,
a = battery
f = radio control.

So no diesel but a hybrid battery and overhead?

Looks like the equivalent of SBB’s Eem923 which is just that. Intended for shunting duties where some sidings are off the wires.

Great find, thanks for posting. That first picture would make a great short scenic layout with the mountain background. If you modelled the shunter on the front of the wagon and put it on a layout at exhibition you'd have people making a few comments about 'Elf and Safety'!

Translated off the RhB website:

The Rhaetian Railway (RhB) will renew its shunting locomotive fleet in the coming years. On 3 September 2018, it signed the purchase agreement for seven new shunting locomotives with Stadler Bussnang AG. The order volume amounts to 21.5 million Swiss francs. The new vehicles are expected to go into operation in 2020. In return, eleven old shunting vehicles can be retired.
The procurement was carried out in close cooperation with the Matterhorn Gotthard Bahn (MGBahn), which has also ordered two new shunting vehicles of this type. In this way, synergies were exploited and procurement costs reduced by around 1 million Swiss francs.

The two railways are innovative in their procurement: the new shunting locomotives are electric-battery hybrid vehicles. They are primarily electrified. If they are used in construction work when the overhead contact line is switched off, in the event of a line interruption or in non-electrified tracks, the auxiliary drive is used. Lithium-ion batteries have now been developed to such an extent that they are also an appropriate alternative to the previous diesel or dual-powered locomotives with diesel and electric drive for shunting vehicles on the railways as an auxiliary drive. The auxiliary battery drive is more environmentally friendly and cost-effective. So far, there are only a few two-force locomotives that have a comparable battery auxiliary drive. With this procurement, the two railways and Stadler Rail are taking a pioneering role. At the same time, the new vehicles will also significantly reduce noise and exhaust emissions. The order for the shunting locomotives was awarded to Stadler Bussnang AG. The new vehicles will be put into operation from spring 2020. The order volume amounts to 21.5 million Swiss francs.
The eleven shunting locomotives that are being retired have reached their intended service life. The most frequently used vehicles became increasingly prone to interference and maintenance. They would have needed a comprehensive refit. However, despite this measure, operating and maintenance costs could not have been significantly reduced.
Technical data of the new shunting locomotives

Personally I prefer the slightly more ‘aggressive’ styling of the Allegra it’s got a bit more character. That said if Kato do the Capricorn I’ll have one as it’s not hideous just not as characterful for me ;)

and why is there a Tmf Tractor at Filisur?

Suspect it may have been called up to recover the TM 2/2 based at Bergun which may have failed. (12.45)
