Today, I been mostly standing drooling over Mutton.

Although I'm partial to a bit of lamb, in this case I'm referring to the layout...

Here's some piccies:

Strangely, for something only 4 foot long and 16 inches wide, it seems to engender a sense of peace and tranquility, barely disturbed by the occasional passing train. The only thing missing was the lonesome calling of a bird from the sky...

Rob, take note, DCC birds required...

It was great to meet you today, and to see Mutton in all its glory, thank you so much for taking the time to chat.

Al.

I can only echo what Al has just said, a great Layout, and some of the best Show running I've seen on a Steam Layout since I last exhibited one at a show.

Loved all the details, without it being gimmicky and silly.:good:

This morning I have had a look over Mutton which I have to say did very well yesterday.

I need to address an issue with one of the points leading from the fiddle yards. The Radials, which do not cope well with uneven track, slipped on exiting one of the sidings in the fiddle yard and I noticed a bulge in the point. I suspect it arises from a slight sag from the revised supporting beams which have replaced the previous supports for the fiddle yards. This placed tension on the baseboard join, causing it to rise slightly with pressure on the connecting fish plates. It needs sorting.

I may also revise the current method of securing the fiddle yards to the main scenic section. The current 'L' brackets have no capacity for vertical adjustment which may not be helping matters.

However, I have time to work on this ahead of Mutton's next show in August.

Morning George. It was a real pleasure chatting to yourself and the rest of the chaps. I'm glad you found Mutton to your liking.

It will be good to see what comes out of your exposure to Mutton.

Mutton is off to the seaside in a couple of weeks.

August 3rd will see Mutton at the Minehead show in what is it's third outing this year. After this we will be at Taunton Rail - ex in October.

I must say I am rather looking forward to this one.

A few, long overdue, jobs are to be attended to. Most notable of these are the coaling of the Radials and the re-attaching of the odd detail here and there.

A freshen up of the scenery wouldn't go amiss either.

Mutton will be at Taunton Rail Ex in October.

The appearance at Exmoor Rail in August went very well and Mutton even came away with some silverware which was not expected at all.

A few minor jobs to attend to, mainly further detailing but we are getting to the point where Mutton really is complete.......ish.

For now though, Mutton is acting as a test bed for various new locos.

Mr Sheep Bloke, you have competition:

I don't think they are aware of the problems that Sheep can cause.

They can be very naughty when left to their own devices......

Of note perhaps.............a new layout is about to commence....

Will there be sheep? Beware of getting typecast, Stu is still trying to shake off the loo thing.

Nope, no sheep. Either on the ground or in trees ( as has been suggested)

I am hoping to have the track laid and wired on Lambstone over the weekend.

Somewhere for the little Terrier chaps to play.
