lankyphil
Just to add a little interest one has a tender cab, and just needs its weathering touching up a bit, I added a bit of extra detailing to this loco, but as is often the curse with N gauge lots of this is lost when viewed from normal distance. Is that not part of the fun of doing it though? Because even though it'll be invisible, you'll know it's there?
paulprice
Half and hour spent modelling today has resulted in the two 4Fs that have been clogging up the work bench being completed, well actually one needs a little real coal in its tender. To be honest quite a few of my fleet need some real coal loading into their tenders, so I may have to do this as a bulk job, just need to crush down some scale coal from a lump, I was kindly give last year at a steam railway. The other thing I need to do is to try and find my camera so I can take a couple of photo's of the locomotives, so might say with my work don't bother with the pictures. paulprice
Ha I found my camera so I have been able to take some pictures of the work completed on the 4F's, ha and I bet you thought you would get away with it. First up No 4543 half cab Ive finally inflicted enough work on this loco testing out ideas for additions to the rest of the 4F fleet if I ever get round to it. Second up No 3854 LMS branding and number have replace the original MR markings, I still think she looks a little clean to me, but you never know what might happen if I get a little more modelling time. Old and new together The older and newer Farish 4F's together, if you don't pay too close attention to the older models, in fact if you close your eyes they look almost acceptable
paulprice
Well one of the LMS liveries I have a soft spot for is the Post War lined black livery. I like this livery so much I have a couple of Scots, a couple Semi Duchess loco's and a Jubilee in this livery. The question is should I repaint the last Jubilee I rescued into this livery or should I just go for another crimson one? Oh so many questions so little answers
paulprice
My two attempts to produce "Semi" Duchess locomotives, and they ended up in Post-War black Oh then there is my attempt at a Parallel Scot Finally the Jubilee Yes I think I have a bit of a thing for this livery? Would another Jube in this livery hurt? Edited July 17, 2017 by paulprice

HornbyMadMan
The black locomotives look ok, but do you not think you maybe have enough already?

paulprice
How come some projects no matter how long you spend on them don't seem to actually progress? Maybe its just me?
paulprice
Well the 4Fs in the fleet have finally had their tenders filling with some real coal, so is that a project actually finished?
paulprice
All this progress is progress is worrying me, I mean who actually completes modelling projects? I thought the whole idea of Railway Modelling was that we never actually finished models or projects. anyway I have also made a little progress on some of the other little projects clogging up the workbench. The tank wagons (all 15 of then ) have received the first stage of weathering, though they still look far to clean to me. Also my attempt to create a Stanier Mogul and Black 5 with a self weighting tender took another tiny step forward, but they are still lurking at the back of the workbench I have been thinking with all of this progress, I must have too much modelling time, I will have to have a word with the Domestic Overlord to see if something can be done about it
HornbyMadMan
Can you please put some step by step updates on how you weather and build your locomotives please, as I think this would be more useful than just completed pictures?
paulprice
Well the last couple of weeks at work have been hell, so I have not had much motivation to do any modelling, but you have to get over things so I think its about time I did something. So its out with the modelling weapons of mass destruction, so here goes.......wish me luck
HornbyMadMan
Do you have any NE stock or is it all from a lesser company like the LMS, just wanted to see if you could model from a real railway. Only joking, about the LMS being a railway

Only joking, about the LMS being a railway I think you NE modellers are not quite up to boiler pressure I may have a couple of NE locos in the fleet, but to be fair to me I was suffering from a severe concussion
paulprice
Well a little progress has been made on my attempt to produce a Stanier Mogul, and a Black 5 with a self weighing tender. They have both received their final coat of undercoat before entering the paint shop proper. On the mogul I think I need to do a little more sanding and filing, as the dome and top feed I fabricated need perhaps a little more work.

paulprice
More progress has been made in the paint shop, so I may even post a picture, now if that is not a threat I don't know what is?
paulprice
Well progress has been made and its very very scary, thins cant be what railway modelling is all about can it? This should add a little interest to the Black 5 fleet, if only from people saying "why oh why have you done that?" I think this will definitely be my last Jubilee, honest, it will certainly be among the last few loco's I will be lining for a while, in N gauge lining and shaky hands are not a good combination. Atso
If my hands shook as much as yours and I could line like that I would be happy. I totally agree. I think dear old (yes he is older than me! ) Mr Price can be overly critical of his work at times. Given that the Jube is around 135mm long (with tender), I think that the lining job he has done to this locomotive is an awesome achievement, shaky hands or no! paulprice
Well my Stanier Mogul is slowly progressing through the works, her lining is nearly complete, and then I can apply her number and branding, making progress is not good, surely this can be what modelling is about.
