Glimpsed through the doorway of the waiting room a passenger waits for the next train due at 10.30. Complete with suitcase and newspaper although he looks to be falling asleep to me.

So you'll be chopping out this 8" square section of the layout for the Cakebox Challenge then ?

Superb layout. I have very much enjoyed reading this thread. Thank you for posting. One small point - gutters and downpipes on the station building and signal box?

Added guttering, downpipes and steps to the signal box tonight. Another item off the list.

Looking good. If I might be so bold, it would look even better if the barrow crossing planks came right up to the outside faces of the rails.

Finally got round to filling in the gaps in the crossing. Not easy with the chairs in the way and needing to provide clearance for the flanges, and over a point as well. The correct viewing angle helps.

Bit more work on the signal box as well.

Gradually working through the list of remaining detail items.

Looks Fantastic! What particular colours did you use for the building colours (GWR Light Stone, Dark Stone), were they Humbrol or another brand?

Regards Connor

The light stone is Phoenix Precision P21 mixed with a bit of Humbrol 121 to give a slightly faded feel. The dark stone is Phoenix Precision P22 mixed with a reasonable amount of Humbrol 118 as the colour looked a bit too much like red oxide straight from the tin. The important thing is to check under the correct layout lighting as it will appear a different depending on the lighting conditions. I hope this helps.

Station building is now finished, guttering and internal lighting added, and planted on the layout. Only 9 items left on the detailing list still to do. Then just finish the wiring and add the fiddle yard and presentation.

Finally finished the two private owner coal wagons for the layout seen in a much earlier post in September 2017. These are Slaters kits from POW sides and come already lettered with transfers. Weathering is a mix of thinned matt Humbrol enamels and weathering powders.  They are filled with genuine Welsh Steam Coal form South Wales.

Just been looking at their website it is a real pain to navigate, could you post a link to the kit

This was the kit.  Home/ Signal Kits and Components/ S4/KW1: GWR Wooden Post Lower Quadrant Signal Kit

Also finished the wiring, so much for a small layout.  Not my favourite job so no bad comments please.

Dave,

I have my first invite already to the Wimborne Model Railway Show in March 2019. It's a lovely little 2 day show that runs biannually and usually has some great layouts so really looking forward to being there.

Sorry, there is no published articles on the Stanton diorama yet but watch this space.

Should have said in earlier post that this is a brilliant cameo. Track plan is a dead ringer for a simple layout By Ian Futers "Ashleigh" which featured in the first Railway Modeller I ever bought - September 1972!

I'm also a fan of the Golden Valley Railway. There's still quite a lot visible if you ever go that way.

Martin,

Sorry but the first show for Hembourne will now be Warminster in July, although I will be at Wimborne on the Sunday helping out on the Merstone layout.

Please  come and say hello if you are about.

Can't make Wimborne unfortunately. I will certainly be at Warminster however, so will look forward to that, as I'm hoping to have seen the other cameo layouts at Railex a few weeks before.  Really going to Railex to see Leighton Buzzard as I'm a devoted fan of the late Rev Denny, and have never seen this layout before....not that I've ever been able to build anything in EM!!

Will certainly say hello at Warminster!!

Rgds

Whilst the back scene is drying out and the bubbles are disappearing I thought it would be good to post another couple of pics of the yard hut. The building is a model of that at Marlborough on the old MSWJR and has once again been built in card, scribed and painted. I still need to finish the roof, add the chimney, guttering etc.

Paul

Can I ask what type of card you use, and where do you get it from??  I've struggled to find a card which suits the "Pendon method" of construction.

Thanks

Martyn
