RMweb Gold Oldddudders Posted May 7, 2019 RMweb Gold Share Posted May 7, 2019 I was in Totnes on Sunday. So were lots of other people. An awful lot of them were very, very young. And all the steam locos, and the gronk, had faces on them. There was some bloke in a top hat and black coat addressing the crowds in a grandstand, while an odd-looking blue engine paraded up and down. I think I was the only gricer there. And I always feel I’m a rather half-baked version, anyway. The other odd thing was the model shop. It has very decent stocks of all sorts of things, not least 4mm locos. But despite looking really hard, I could not see one OO GWR 0-6-0 tank, neither pannier nor saddle. Most odd. 1

Another modeller in the making possibly too ! YEY !!!

RMweb Gold Captain Kernow Posted May 9, 2019 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted May 9, 2019 Did a bit more track weathering this afternoon, by the light of my fab new lamp of differing light temperatures that CTMK just bought for me. Further work done on the overbridge and weathering of buffer stops as well. 4 1
RMweb Gold NHY 581 Posted May 10, 2019 RMweb Gold Share Posted May 10, 2019 Mange tout, Mon Capitaine. Nice to hear of what is undoubtedly progress of the highest good order. Looking forward to seeing some images of small and delightful tank engines. Defense de fume !! Rob

RMweb Gold Popular Post Captain Kernow Posted May 17, 2019 Author RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted May 17, 2019 A bit more work has been done on the layout and some further test running has taken place. For some reason, the light railway, that has running powers into this BR goods yard, seems to have found its motive power from the LNER. It would be extremely unlikely, in real life, to find two light railway locos in the yard at the same time.

Well, thanks for your comments and that's all fine and dandy, but I'm still not quite sure how they got there, especially that mobile garden shed.
RMweb Premium Northroader Posted May 19, 2019 RMweb Premium Share Posted May 19, 2019 It was running along one of those roadside tramways, and just hit a bump and kept going. All you need to do is follow the grooves in the tarmac back. 1
RMweb Gold Popular Post Captain Kernow Posted June 15, 2019 Author RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted June 15, 2019 This is the current state of play, not much additional progress really, although cobbling of the goods yard area is well underway and the brickwork on the overbridge has finally been painted and weathered (the girders haven't been weathered yet). The buildings aren't yet permanently attached to the layout, either: 19
south_tyne
Cobblers!! That ground surface looks very realistic CK, you must have the patience of a saint. Hopefully you have treated yourself to another bottle of Totnes Stout as a reward. The layout is really starting to come together. I like the weather-beaten pannier.... looks very at home
