Yo CK what's Stubbs on about? is he building 12th century railway.

Not sure what's going on in his part of Cornwall at the moment, Bob.

Might be some kind of Mazey Day, or Maisie Day, who knows?

In all seriousness, I suspect he may be suffering from Peckett withdrawal symptoms, which normally only affects those who have withdrawn their Pecketts from service too early. In Stubby's case, he is probably affected by the rarer form of the condition, whereby you consider buying a Peckett but change your mind at the last minute.

I've long been an admirer of Tom Foster's work and when he announced that he was starting up a weathering business, I thought I'd put a couple of locos his way. This not only saves me time by not having to do this myself, but it also ensures that I get a very fine job done.

He's working on 2538, my Dean Goods today, but isn't D6331 looking good?

Many thanks, Tom, excellent work!

Stubby, I have a spare untouched Silver Fox Class 22 kit, with the appropriate Hornby Chassis if you want it? It doesn’t fit South Wales modelling.

Tim T

Modelling South Wales branches in EM

An exceeding generous offer, I will PM you.

No photos yet, but I have now started ballasting the layout. Very time-consuming, each sleeper bay is 'painted' with PVA and the ballast mix (or in some parts of the layout, ash) is sprinkled on and the residue removed once the glue has dried.

HI

Time consuming maybe but the end result is superb......

Having previously seen your description of your method & tried it I would say it gives the best result......

But possibly not for a large layout as it  would take forever which is why I've reverted to other methods.....

Keep up the good work

Enjoying your progress

Cheers Bill

How deep it the ballast? If the only glue you use is 'painted' on first, it doesn't sound very thick.
