It looks dead good to me . Thanks Jazzer. The track (bog standard C&L flexitrack and copper-clad points) was first sprayed with Halfords red oxide primer and then Railmatch 'Track Dirt'. Individual sleepers and rail sides were then painted with a variety of browns and greys (all enamels). The ballast is mostly Woodland Scenics or Carrs, all of it '2mm scale' stuff and a mix of shades. 1 1
RMweb Gold Popular Post Captain Kernow Posted October 20, 2019 Author RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted October 20, 2019 I've been doing a bit of landscaping, building up the bank in front of the overbridge. Utterly traditional methods have been used, card formers, covered with a combination of PVA and plaster-soaked cotton and also old newspaper. A final PVA and Polyfilla mix was coloured with some burnt umber water colour and applied to the shell. 26
RMweb Gold Captain Kernow Posted October 20, 2019 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted October 20, 2019 I've also posted some photos in the Cameo Layouts section, covering the cutting out of a single piece of card, to form the surface for the farm track that crosses the bridge:
RMweb Gold Captain Kernow Posted November 8, 2019 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted November 8, 2019 This afternoon, by virtue of a combination of some sunshine and the heater being switched on in the shed, I managed to spray a few things for the layout, namely the loading gauge, the weighbridge, the cosmetic point levers and a couple of warning signs. The way is now clearing for the weighbridge and associated office to be bedded into the layout and the ground surface applied around it. After that, I hope to start going green. 8

RMweb Gold Popular Post Captain Kernow Posted November 17, 2019 Author RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted November 17, 2019 Experimental covering of a couple of areas with an initial, base application of 2mm fibres. Longer fibres will be added, although at the moment I am experimenting with other hues on a 'swatch' basis.
RMweb Gold Captain Kernow Posted November 17, 2019 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted November 17, 2019 While I am pondering on the final shade(s) of green for the vegetation, I have been preparing some small scenic details for priming with Halfords red oxide: And after the paint had been applied:

RMweb Gold Popular Post Captain Kernow Posted November 24, 2019 Author RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted November 24, 2019 (edited) Further scenic work has been taking place. One of the things that I need to do is install hedges or walls along some of the rear and side edges of the layout, where the scenic section would otherwise come up directly to the backscene. One of the curved corners at the rear features what I call a 'low relief hedge'. A card former is first glued to the curved corner: This is then given a quick wash of green (acrylic) paint: Foliage is then added (Hekiflor): A bit more foliage, some grass and a couple of moribund cable drums: More work still to do here, but it's progressing. RMweb Premium Neil Posted November 26, 2019 RMweb Premium Share Posted November 26, 2019 Nice to see the green stuff growing over the layout CK. The simple card former technique for hedges can work well for trees too.

I do have something similar in mind, in fact, as there are going to be trees on both sides of the line, behind the small girder overbridge. At the moment, though, I've been working on various small detail bits and pieces.
